Surf’s Up 🌊 Toddler Room

Beach vibes only ✌
When you live in Illinois, winter can be depressing and gray. I wanted my son’s room to be bright and cherry with a tranquil beach vibe — surfer style it is! 🏄‍♂️
The walls are Sherwin Williams | Glimmer SW6476 — and it’s the perfect shade of cheerful and chill. The pictures above his crib are from Target and they come as a set. The floating shelves are from Ikea for $4.99/ea. The stackable wooden bins are also from Target and great for books and toys. I am still working on a gallery wall for above his dresser. Hang tight– more to come!

Toddler-Friendly Beach Bash

When I think of Summer fun, the beach automatically comes to mind! My toddler-friendly beach bash has easy treats, and fun favors! I wanted to make my beach party as simple as possible. That meant simple decor, and easy party props. I used 2 surfboards for my backdrop, brought collapsable tables, and even used my ice chest to transport the treats, and display them! My toddler-friendly bash called for toddler-friendly treats! Simple chocolate dipped marshmallows, and fish crackers. The marshmallow pops were a hit with my little guy. I found a really cute ice chest at the 99cent store.
I knew it would be perfect for the bash!
I embellished it with paper fringe, a small banner, and Kool-Aid drinks. I also found small beach totes filled with beach toys, and used them as party favors. Bubbles are always a party-must! I picked these up from Dollar Tree, and added some festive printables, from Whimsically Detailed. I filled snow cone cups with popcorn. Perfect for little fingers.
And look at the darling mini favor boxes that I purchased from Piggy Bank Parties. Beach pails, totes, flip-flops, and towels completed the decor! I hope you’ve enjoyed my toddler-friendly beach bash! And I hope I’ve inspired you to throw your own Summer Fun celebration!

Nautical and Beach Themed Nursery

This room used to be my scrapbook/work out/guest bedroom.  Once we found out I was pregnant, we decided to keep one half of the room for the guest bed and turn the other side into the nursery, since it’s a fairly big space.  It’s my favorite room in our home to sit in now since the blues and greens are so relaxing.  I hope it’s a room that Toby will grow to love just as much as I do!

Beach Baby Birthday

Sandy toes and sunshine – the perfect way to celebrate a birthday!  After meeting at the Central Florida Martha Stewart Dreamers into Doers event, Jennifer from Party Dreamz started to working on this “Beach Baby Birthday” piece. We designed a table setting and a dessert/snack table and picked the best back drop ever–the beach–to have our party. Thanks to Jill from Luecht Photography for photo-editing our pictures – a service she now offers internationally! Renee from Bees Knees Creative supplied the gorgeous cookies, and Debra from Titi’s Tutu’s the girl’s headbands and pink tutu.

Modern Under the Sea Nursery

I fell in love with this modern under the sea crib bedding before I even knew if I was going to have a boy or a girl. Good thing it could go either way. I was on a very tight budget with this room so I made a lot of what is in the room or I bought something that was very inexpensive and altered it to make it look like more than it was. My only item that I was sad I couldn’t get was the Eames molded plastic rocker. That would have made this room perfect!

Nautical Boy’s Nursery

Our nautical nursery is a tribute to life on the high seas for a very lucky little boy! Since this was a small room, we started with the addition of a built-in shelving unit and window bench seat that opens up for additional storage. Next we added a high cream colored wainscoting to provide a beach-home feel to the room. We found this royal blue convertible crib discounted at a local furniture store and thought it would be perfect for a nautical themed nursery. I found this cute nautical ceiling light fixture online for only $40 and spray-painted it red to coordinate with the custom painted Sherri Blum Nautical Wall Hanging. I found the “Row Row Row Your Boat” wooden letters for only $2 each at a local discount craft store and painted them white and hung them randomly across the wall to add a touch of whimsy to the nursery. We finished up with custom bedding, window treatments, bench cushions, and rug to tie this nautical nursery neatly together for a custom look without breaking the bank.
