When Tasty Baby, makers of the popular, celeb endorsed, organic baby food, asked us to write a feature on making the transition from baby to toddler room, we were thrilled. Not only do we stand by their super nutritional and TASTY products (found in CA markets such as Wholefoods & available online), but we have we gotten a ton of requests and tips from our own readers, plus have some really great ideas since both Melisa and I are personally making the switch over! Don't miss our featured article found on Tasty Baby's Blog. We've got the top 7 ways to go from twinkle-twinkle to preschool cool. Best of all, making the jump from baby nursery to toddler room can be easy and inexpensive.., 1. Invest in a good looking and functional bed. I went for a full size bed so that the nightly reading sessions would be comfy for Mom and Dad too. The bed will take center stage in the room and now there are great options for tufted headboards, bunk beds and modern designs. Have fun with it! 2. Give that changing table a makeover. Get rid of the changing portion on top and add a fresh coat of paint and hardware to the dresser to transform it from sweet baby to fun toddler. Try a pop of color to give the room some punch and to help incorporate all the colors going on with the zillions of toys you have now acquired. 3.  Bring in a …

We were delighted to introduce you to Nicole Worth and family a few months back. You made it known that you were just as delighted to view their son's incredible modern nursery. And like us, you thought, "Hmmm? Do I dare copy this look? Is it really difficult?" So without further adieu, Nicole shares with us her mural making secrets and you don't have to be a graphic designer after all... Melisa at Project Nursery asked me to write a how-to on creating our alphabet mural for a nursery, and I am happy to oblige!  Being that my husband and I went to art school during the days when hand-lettering was a class, we decided to create a mural that not only reflected our son's crib bedding but also let us take a step back-in-time and put our hand-lettering skills to the test.  Although we built our mural using alphabet letters, any design can be created to get the same effect. Here's how we did it: We started the process by figuring out which colors worked best for our design.  Knowing we wanted to use a color that went with the Dwell Studio Bedding we chose, we decided on blue.  Using BEHR paint from Home Depot, we chose three shades of blue:  the base color- which covered all the walls- is Cumberland Fog and the other two colors-Little Dipper and Silver Strand-are a lighter hue and a darker hue of this same blue shade. After painting our wall with the …

Did anyone catch The Martha Stewart Show featuring some very accomplished bloggers the other day? Thank you Martha for dedicating an entire episode to the blogging phenomenon! If any of our readers have their own blog, make certain you link to The Martha Blog and comment for the chance to be recognized by the Domestic Diva herself! We here at Project Nursery are crossing our fingers! Speaking of Martha, I often log on to explore her recipes and Dinner Tonight with Everyday Food. This time I found myself wishing I were a bride again. Oh how I long for the days where I had the time to spend hours analyzing her wedding photos and their glorious details.  Yet with only minutes remaining of my son's nap, I had to quickly re-focus and remember my purpose: kids. I enjoyed my time there too as I re-visited old school Martha Stewart Kids (such a shame the publication ceased back in '06). In celebration of Fall, I uncovered delightful Pumpkin Pillows for the playroom. Check out Martha's simple DIY tutorial. I am planning to attempt these myself. Although, I am also hoping that my pumpkin turns into a carriage and whisks me away for the day in a wedding dress!

There are so many fancy-shmancy alarm clock options out there these days. We can't tell you how to program yours but we can tell you where to find a really cool kids alarm clock by American Innovative that not only looks good but actually teaches time too! The two main features of their clocks are the "Ok to Wake!" Dual-Color Nightlight Timer & Let's Learn To Tell Time! For children just out of the crib, Teach Me Time! features a dual-color nightlight that turns green when it's "Ok to wake!". Teach Me Time! also features an interactive, talking time-teaching game designed to help school-aged kids learn to tell time on both analog and digital clocks. The large, bright LCD display is capable of displaying the time in either format or both at once. So if these means my child will learn not to get out of bed until the light goes on at 7:30am, this is soooo worth getting! Psst...The word is: Enter code TMK50 for 50% off!

Leave it to two talented art school grads and owners of graphic design studio, Form Code to develop an artistic, modern and soothing nursery for their baby boy. Impressive how they make adding a few ABC's to the wall look as easy as 123... "Our inspiration for the room was the bedding for one- it’s Dwell Alphabet bedding.  We thought it would be a great beginning for the room, we’re both art graduates and back in our day (lol) we had a hand lettering class.  My husband’s best class, mine not so much- so it was kind of a good connection for us to bring that memory back to our son’s room. We used BEHR paint for the room, the colors for the wall are Cumberland Fog, Little Dipper and Silver Strand.  The mural was created on the computer and then projected on the wall- from there we hand painted all of the letters....fun, fun!  Ha!  The monkey on the wall was "Magnus” from egg press- we thought he was so cute, so we replicated him as a painting." "The crib and dresser are Babi Italia Scandi style.  I loved the white and espresso color and it went well with the bedding colors.  The bookcase was purchased from West Elm- love their stuff and it's now loaded with a multitude of knick-knacks. Some of our favorite items in the room would be the Domo doll and the Ugly doll- hopefully they will become his favorite stuffed animals :0)  We wanted a more “furniture”-like rocker for the room so we bought the Wendy Bellissimo …
