After spending the better part of the 4th of July weekend at the beach, I could not help but have girl swimsuit envy. I'm not talking about those high school girls in their tiny bikinis, I'm talking about the mommy envy of being able to dress up a little girl in adorable swimsuits and coverups. I love my little boy but little girls are so much more fun to dress. Since I used to own my own children's store, I have discriminating tastes on children's clothing and am always searching for cute new brands for my little son to wear. This includes swimwear. If you are bored with the look of Gap, Target, Gymboree and are looking for a boutique line with a little more surfer edge I'd like to introduce you to Haiden Surf.  Haiden Surf was started a few years ago by two surfer-girl-turned-moms in Southern California. Their boys swim trunks "boardies" combine bold animal prints, plaids, stripes, polka dots, and tie-dye patterns and range from infant size to size 7. Besides boardies they also carry adorable surfin' trucker hats, undies (yes they say "no dumping"), rash guards, hoodies, sunnies (sunglasses), t-shirts and flip flops. As a bonus to Project Nursery readers, Haiden Surf will be giving away a free pair of flip flops, actually the Haiden Surf girls like to call them "slaps",  with the purchase of a pair of swim trunks this week. While checking out, just mention Project Nursery in the "comments" section of checkout …

Children's designer Jayneoni Moore, aka Boom Boom Room is at it again. She's raising awareness and stressing the importance of early childhood reading by encouraging parents to read to their kids all summer long. The launch of "Sophie's Book Club" is taking place at the fun-loving kiddie inspired bookstore, Storyopolis. Families are invited to come by to support Los Angeles pre-school and kindergarten aged children in need on Sunday, July 11th from 2pm - 5pm. Purchase a new book from Storyopolis to share your love of reading with a child. Some of our favorite celebrities will be standing by to wrap your donations.  If you are unable to attend or live out of state and still want to purchase books to donate, call Storyopolis directly (818.990.7600) to make your donation. Your name will be featured on the event's book giving tree. Kids in attendance will enjoy an array of fun activities: Celebrity read a-louds, delicious sweets, a spectacular bubble show, arts and crafts, very special character guests and special gift bags for guests who donate over 3 books! Project Nursery will be on hand to provide design tips on ways you can best showcase the books in your child's room. It's our belief that if your books are properly displayed, your kids will always want to read them! We hope to see you there. Help us spread the word and let's tweet! @sophiesbookclub

With the amount email traffic in my inbox, I rarely open a silly or sentimental "forward" unless it's from my sister-in-law or mother-in-law of course :). Good thing I did the other day. I hope all you experienced and expecting parents take a moment to watch the video below. Katrina Kenison, author of "The Gift of an Ordinary Day" puts life and motherhood into perspective. So now when my 3 year old throws a tantrum in the preschool parking lot or when my growing 3 month old skips wearing 3-6 months clothes all together, I hope to sit back, take in these seemingly mundane or at times, aggravating moments and smile. Because I know that my oldest won't throw himself down on the pavement by the time he heads off to collage and that my tiny baby will one day grow into a man. Gosh, I am really going to miss these "ordinary" days. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY MOMS! We are proud to be part of the club. Love, Your friends at Project Nursery

Little 2 month old Liam is one lucky dude. Thanks to his mother's love of great patterns, Liam enjoys a bright and edgy room inspired by the modern and luxe designs of Missoni. I too love their textiles and home collection and am still upset over a set of pillows I didn't snatch up while on a London holiday years ago. Guess I'll have to get my Missoni fix with this fun nursery mom Jill made possible by mixing big ticket splurge items with some great steals. What was your inspiration for the room? My inspiration was the Missoni fabric. Much like Rachel Zoe, I DIE for Missoni. Fortunately, I am a Design Consultant for a store that carries Missoni fabrics. I wanted the room to be gender neutral since we are hoping to have more kids one day. I think it works for both boy and girl, using turquoise as the highlighting color. What best describes your decorating style? Modern, eclectic, and finding ways to make each room unique. I love rooms that have a fresh new idea truly make them unique and special. Please share with us your choice of paint colors, furniture, art, diy tips, etc. The storage blocks we constructed and designed. I couldn't find a storage unit that I like for the space. It was a great project that is very unique to the room. They swivel 360 degrees and are the perfect size for the old school locker bins that hold diapers, blankets, bibs, …

Halloween is a great opportunity to let your kids entertain their friends. You can get them involved in the planning, and playing host/hostess for the day…

My 10 year old niece asked me to write a post about desks. You see, she is a very good student and takes her classwork seriously (spoken by a proud Aunt). I thought what better way for her to start the school year off and get her homework cap on then with a shiny new desk that's got some style. I know a nice aesthetic always make me produce better work. Here are just a few that caught my eye. There is something about good ole glue that caputres the undivided attention of preschoolers. So when I caught photos of Galit's party where her little friends had the opportunity to glue fun arts and crafts with their very own glue bottles, I thought mom Mica had an activity that would stick with me for future party planning. Child's name: Galit Age: 3 Location: Home - West Orange, NJ What is the theme of the party and why? My daughter Galit's loves animals and arts and crafts. When we received this Inspiration Board from Atlanta momprenuer Erika Ward we knew our readers would just love it! Like many of you, Erika's daughter Ava was ready to graduate from the nursery to her "big girl" room. Erika was ready to get inspired. While out shopping, she found a bright pink dress at Gymboree and instantly knew that it was the perfect inspiration for Ava's new room. The cheerful paisley pattern and metallic sandals were just the right blend of sweet and girly with that touch of modern glamour she envisioned. We can't wait to see what Erika comes up with for Ava's twin brother! Please share a little bit about yourself. I am a wife, mother, and designer. I'm passionate about how people live, what gives them comfort, and stirring up their creative genius. Believe it or not, everyone has at least an ounce of creativity. I have the heart of a teacher and love showing clients how to make their visions real. I continue to be inspired by how individuals express themselves through fashion and often correlate the two when designing for my clients. BluLabel Bungalow is the epitome of this creative process. I examine trends and patterns, fabrics and textures, inspiration can be found in any object you love. Allow me to help you discover your style--after all, your home should celebrate your individuality, not your designer's. What was your inspiration for this board? Ava Grace is now 2 years old and has outgrown her little crib...yet, another reason to redecorate! …
