I kinda love it when my little guy wants me to read him three books before bed every-single-night. While I sometimes can’t get him to bed soon enough because mommy needs a break, I am always a sucker for when it comes to reading. So when I was recently introduced to Bookpig.com I thought the concept was true genius, guaranteed to be a smashing success. Why? Because in today’s tech savvy society, we are able to rent movies, handbags and even friends! So two San Fransisco families thought, why not kids books? Think Netflix meets children’s books…

Our dear contributor and woman behind The TomKat Studio Kim Stoegbauer, is taking time to answer some of our curious questions today. We are proud to boast that we knew Kim way back when. Okay, it’s only been less than two years but she’s exploded onto the children’s party scene with her sweet sense of style and highly coveted DIY party printables.

Working from home doing what you love is a dream come true for myself and so many other moms. It takes a lot of hard work and a lot of late nights. Kim is an inspiring example of what it takes to manage a household…

Do you remember your first day of school? From the excitement of showing off your new lunch pail to the desperation of passing at least one  neighborhood friend in the hallway, that Autumn day was filled with both promise and anxiety. Mother of twin girls Michal and Kenna (and mom blogger!), Kristi, started a new tradition that we just had to share. Kristi used vintage school books and origami flowers to dress her second annual "Back to School Dinner". The girls used their best manners when dining with mom's fancy china! Kristi kept the evening kid-friendly and fun by serving foods like tomato soup and cheese pasta. What party traditions do you share with your family? Share them on our Real Gallery! Be sure to check out Kristi's Blog for more of her family fun ideas.

"Back to School" mode has switched into high gear around here and I have to say its stressing me out a bit. With one heading to Kindergarten I've got a list of things to get for her before the official first day of school. Just this morning we were co-surfing the Internet for the perfect lunch bag. She wanted Hello Kitty, I preferred mod dots, we compromised on cute and sassy owl. At least I can check one thing off the list. It got me thinking about how we were both going to keep track of these new items. I mean its a triumph if a headband stays around more then a couple of weeks and those suckers can be expensive. Thankfully I've discovered Emily Press Labels. They literally let you stick in style. Emily Press Labels has created stylish, original label designs for modern kids, hip youths and savvy parents. What is so great about Emily Press Labels is that there are not only many cute designs to choose from but the labels come in various sizes and label types. There are the super strong adhesive stick-on type which are waterproof and dishwasher safe which are great for just about anything. The tag-a-tag labels are designed to stick right on clothing tags and not wash off in the laundry. Perfect for all the extra clothes you end up sending off to preschool for those pesky "accidents" and there are even the old school iron-on type labels.  Don't miss the Back to …

Is your little one starting school for the very first time?!  If so, make the day special with a little party to celebrate this milestone event! Every child needs a cute backpack to start the school year with!  They have their whole lives to wear plain, boring backpacks....now is the time to pull out the cute stuff! Layla Grayce offers the most darling collection of animal-inspired backpacks and then some this season.  Charming, colorful and the perfect size for your little one. Backpack brands include our favorite Skip Hop, the popular knit Blabla (and you thought they just made dolls!), the always modern DwellStudio and many more! The party planner in me however can't help but suggest how you can make that first day of school special by baking cupcakes to celebrate the big day.  Take a cue from your child's backpack to create a theme - whether it's an owl, a bumble bee or a monkey.  No matter which you choose, you and your child will cherish the time together celebrating the first day of school! One of the best things about being a nursery designer is getting to come back to my client's homes when they have their second (or third!) child. I love to visit with the little ones that have grown so much. One of my clients contacted me when she was pregnant with her second, and we …

I don’t know about you, but during those early sleep-deprived days of new motherhood, I could have definitely used a little powered boost. At the time, I didn’t know it could have come from my nursery chair, but these powered up gliders are a game changer.
