We celebrated Elizabeth's First Birthday with a "You are my Sunshine" theme! Lots of hot pink, yellow, and orange to celebrate her late July special day.
I have always loved the song, and sing it to Elizabeth. I thought the colors and theme would be well suited for an end of summer celebration. We made banners of each main line from the song to hang throughout the house.
I wanted the party to really feel like an end-of summer, slightly contemporary celebration for her birthday. The bright colors and decor outside with the pool pulled it all together.
We used craft paper and a die cut machine to make the letters for the banners. Getting the color order correct for the ombre effect took a bit of writing out and planning.
We assembled the wall on a room divider screen by attaching the honeycomb balls, fans, and poofs with pipe cleaners. I wanted a bright, fun, statement piece to be a backdrop for photos
The colorful honeycomb backdrop wall. It was the main element I had envisioned for the whole party, and I loved the combination of colors!
Go as big, or as small as you want for the first birthday party - be comfortable with how you wish to celebrate. Although the baby won't remember, the celebration is a huge milestone, especially for first parents who feel like they have made it through a year of incredible life changes!
