Lawson’s World Traveler Nursery

Description

This is a budget friendly nursery for our first born son filled with love and excitement. We wanted it to be a calming space for both mommy and baby.  Everything is finally put together, now we are just waiting on the baby!

Design Inspiration

My goal was for it to be bright, airy and neutral with a sense of sophistication yet still fun, personable and child friendly.

Decorating Style

The base colors I chose were classic whites and taupes, this way I could start decorating early and then when we found out the gender I could add subtle hints of soft pink or blue, which in our case it ended up being BLUE.  I didn't really have a theme in mind, but if I had to categorize it as something I would say, Parisian World Traveler meets Animals of the World.

Favorite Items

My favorite item is the glider that my husband and I put together using an IKEA chair and a glider mechanism that we ordered online... details on how to make your own glider can be found on my blog post here.

We saved a ton of money by doing this but still got the look I wanted :)

Advice

My advice would be to not stop until you feel like it is FINISHED.  I stopped a few weeks ago because everyone said it looked great and didn't need anything else, but I knew in my heart it didn't feel done yet.  I then added some of my favorite pieces as finishing touches and it finally felt complete to me.  That sense of having the nursery done and ready for baby is so rewarding and relieving.

BEAUTIFUL! I want a similar look with the soft blue and white...and love how you incorporated a bit of beige/taupe. You have given me some great ideas. Amazing job!

What an adorable space! It's so calming, and I agree don't stop until you feel like it's finished. Those small little details are what make a room!
