Woodland First Birthday

Description

Our sweet baby boy had a lovingly handmade woodland birthday party.

Design Inspiration

I am constantly inspired by browsing Project nursery! There are so many good ideas on this site. We were able to use many items from our boy's nursery decor for his party.

Decorating Style

I like modern and vintage things mixed in together.

Project Details

Almost every thing at this party was made by me. I even made the gumdrops!  I designed and created all the labels and paper decorations. I sewed the bunting and the stuffed owls that hang with the tissue pom poms. I made the ribbon banner. I made all the food except for a few items that my mom made. The birthday hat was made from this tutorial: http://loveaffairwithmybrother.blogspot.com/2011/02/happy-birthday-to-us.html

Favorite Items

I love all the apothecary jars and the cake dome. I think the vintage suitcase is a nice touch.

Advice

I've been working hard at this party for six months. The best advice I have is to research like crazy before you start making anything, and scour your house for any items that will fit in your theme. Write them all down so you remember to use them when the time comes! Most of all, remember to have fun and enjoy your baby and the party!

That framed family owl portrait is really cute! Nice job on the handmade details. I have always wanted to try out a woodland party theme myself.

Thank you! The woodland theme is lots of fun, and you can get some great decorations from nature! I'm currently planning a woodland themed baby shower for my brand new nephew.
