Watson’s Primary Color Preppy Boy Nursery

We purchased our home almost four years ago and have been slowly renovating each room. We saved the third bedroom for last always knowing it would be the future nursery. Before we began, we had to remove the layers of wallpaper on both the walls and the ceiling! We wanted everything in the nursery to be able to be used once he is a toddler which included all furniture and the design.

Design Inspiration

Once we found out our baby would be a boy, I knew I wanted it have a preppy and traditional design with lots of primary colors and stripes. Since we wanted items that were multi-purposed we made sure they could be used in his room once he was a toddler. We also knew we would be spending a lot of time in the room so we wanted to make sure it was something fun for all of us.

 

I ended up creating my inspiration board to continue to reference during the entire decorating stage.

Decorating Style

My design style is traditional with a touch of vintage. I love all of my furniture from my family that has been passed down or finding great antiques.

Project Details

The first thing I purchased were the navy blackout curtains from Amazon. Once those arrived, we used the curtains to pick the matching navy paint color and a warm white. The stripes were a DIY project done by my husband. The dresser is a 1900's buffet that was refinished. The mobile was a DIY project done by me. The bookshelves were purchased from Target, the crib and glider were both from Layla Grace. All of the bedding is from Pottery Barn. The prints for the frame wall are from various etsy stores and were also gifts. We also hung the pregnancy announcement picture.

Favorite Items

The glider. We spent the most money on the glider and it has been worth it. I loved rocking in it before he even arrived and I now love reading him books in it every night.

I also love the stripes. They turned out amazing!

Advice

Try to incorporate family items along with your new purchases.

Keep your inspiration notes with you at all times. You never know when you are in a store and find something that fits perfectly (that's what happened with the buffet that's now our dresser!).
