My husband and I wanted a nursery that didn't really have an established theme, but rather fill the room with things that are important to us while still creating a baby friendly nursery.
I spent hours looking at Pintrest, Etsy and of course Project Nursery to gather ideas for this room. The first purchase was the glider, which I knew we would recover with a different fabric right away and my search of fabrics began. I decide to go with Alexander Henry 2D Zoo fabric for the bedding and then the rest of it kind of all came together from there.
My husband is more modern where I am more antique and so we frequently merge the two, hence the wooden sign above the crib. We didn't want anything too baby-ish or too sophisticated so we found a very happy medium with the room we created for Warren.
Crib Bedding: I had everything custom made by people I found on Etsy! Fitted Sheet: tweetbytheseadesigns, Crib Skirt: d'Nile Design, Quilt: Handmade by sister
Bookcase: IKEA Expedit, W Letter: Anthropologie, Storage Bins: Home Goods and Target, Mommy & Baby Elephant: CutbyFire on etsy
Glider: Craigs List find / Fabric: sewlovfabrics on etsy / Black Lab pillow: custom designed by CrafyCouture by lamandle (etsy)
Boppy Cover: custom made by TheTinyHineyBusiness (etsy)
Wall Art: Embroidery Hoops DIY project, Rhino Kisses painting and Monogrammed Wall Plaque: gifts from friend, Bushel & a Peck: TheHouseofBelonging (etsy), Paper Lanterns: Party City, White Poofs: DIY project
Dresser/Changing Table: IKEA, Knobs: Anthropologie, Changing Pad Cover: handmade by the "Grandmommy-To-Be", Diaper Caddy: Pottery Barn Kids Outlet, Mirror: Home Depot, Alphabet Art: gift from friend, Frames for Alphabet Art: Target
My favorite items are the ones that were handmade and given to us as gifts, especially the quilt my sister made and the Rhino Kisses painting my friend painted for us. A close second would be the Bushel & a Peck sign since it has so much sentimental value to me.
I used Pintrest to help me organize my design ideas and inspirations and then it was easy for me to put it all together. I had so much fun custom designing our nursery instead of going with a theme. I am not very crafty, but am a strong believer in DIY projects... if you can't do it yourself you can always find someone on etsy who can!
