Vio’s Nursery

Description

There are so many unknowns when it comes to when having a baby.. how you'll cope with pregnancy, when your bundle of joy will make his/her grand entrance, what they'll look like, whose personality will shine through most.. but one thing I knew I did have control over was what the nursery would look like.

When we found out we were expecting in Fall 2016, the second thing my mind jumped to after the excitement of my family growing settled was planning the nursery. For the two years that my husband and I lived in our house pre-baby, our third bedroom, piled high with odds and ends, tortured me every time I walked past waiting to be turned into something meaningful. Knowing we would one day fill it with a new family member, I chose a light grey for the walls and carpet to avoid totally revamping the room down the line.

I had spent countless hours on Pinterest pinning elegant nurseries if I had a girl, but couldn't find any I loved to be my original source of inspiration if it were a boy. So when we found out we were expecting a boy a few weeks later, I was stuck. I knew I wanted to stick to a clean and simple look, more so on the modern side. That meant I needed to dig a little deeper since everything I was coming across was so traditional. Then came Project Nursery!

I didn't want a "theme" to be SO overwhelming obvious, nor did I want the typical baby boy blue color palette. Keeping with my pre-existing grey walls and carpet, I decided to go with whites and navy for furniture and bedding. And my goal was also to incorporate my own personal love for travel in small details in hopes I will pass that passion down to my son one day. After lots of back-and-forth to find the perfect crib and a glider that would fit our small space, the trigger was finally pulled and his nursery was complete!

Thankful for my super-handy husband and my artistically talented brother, my visions for my baby boy's nursery came to life slowly but surely. I am so pleased with how it all came together just in time!
