A vintage equestrian themed tea party baby shower to celebrate a baby girl.
This was my baby shower that I helped plan with my friend Courtney who was the official hostess. I own a horse and I'm hoping my little girl will like them too, so we decided to go with an Equestrian theme. We found the perfect tea/polo shop in San Francisco and once we nailed down the venue the theme flowed from there.
I love vintage finds combined with modern styling and aesthetics. I love to make a space/event as personal as possible. I also like to find "deals" and try not to pay full price...for anything!
We found a lot of the party accessories on eBay, Save-on-Crafts & Ikea.
Invites: DIY - I'm a graphic designer so I designed and created the invites to go with our "horseshoe & roses" theme.
Flowers: DIY - Courtney scoured the SF Flowermart the day before and found gorgeous red roses and cream-colored hydrangeas to use as the centerpieces. The tea shop provided the empty tea tins to use.
Food: Provided by Tal-y-Tara Tea Shop. We knew we wanted to find a venue that provided food & refreshments. They're scones and sandwiches are reknown for being delicious. What more could you ask for?
Cupcakes: Used a daily deal website to find a good deal on cupcakes. Worked with them to design custom fondant details like the gold horseshoes & red rose cupcake toppers.
Favors: I got used horseshoes from my farrier for free. Courtney and I cleaned them and spray-painted them gold. And then we designed the tags and printed them at home. The ribbon we found off eBay.
Decor: We used my old Breyer horse collection to decorate the tables, along with horseshoe ribbons we ordered off of eBay.
I loved the fact that we could use my old model horse collection to decorate. It brought such a personal touch to the party!
I think the most important thing to remember is to work with what you have. The venue is the backdrop and base for all of your decorations, so you have to focus on that first of all.
