Under the Big Top

Description

We created a circus inspired room for our son Oliver. We found the bedding in Potterybarn kids. You feel like you are walking into a blue and white tent at a circus when you enter the room. The primary colors such as reds, greens, blues, orange, and yellows make you want to smile. All of the animals from artwork to stuffed animals are all around the room inviting you to play.

Design Inspiration

Bedding I found in Pottery Barn Kids. I wanted something bright and cheerful.

Decorating Style

My husband and I like to use fabrics as an inspiration. We love for a room to be inviting and feel livable.

Project Details

We transformed everything in this room. It was a blank slate. My husband even installed the hardwood floors himself. My husband did the paint job himself. We got the idea out of Potterybarn Kids. He was able to paint the tent even on the ceiling with a lot of detailed measurements and painters tape. Working on the paint job took him several weeks doing it on his days off. The offwhite cuby and bookshelf came from our favorite locally owned furniture store Celadon in Charleston SC. The pieces are great for all those toys and books.

Favorite Items

I love the painted circus tent of course. I also love the glider/ recliner. It is the most used item in the room. The shelf my  husband built in the entry way is one of my favs aswell. It helped us transition the room.

Don't be afraid of paint.
