The Land of Canaan

Description

Think beyond the typical blue boy room.

Design Inspiration

My inspiration for Canaan's room stems from the big stuffed hound dog which belonged to my husband as a child. He got this dog after undergoing a major surgery at the age of four.

Decorating Style

Vintage (old school) with a touch of modern.

Project Details

Canaan's room is designed to be a nursery/guest room. The sofa turns into a bed which comes in handy when we have out-of-towners visit. I wanted to keep his room simple so I went with a clean cut crib with a plain brown sheet. The canvas above his changing table/dresser was painted by myself and the hanging yarn ball mobile  along with the seven foot curtains were also DIY projects. The adorable Canaan sign on the mirror and the cute wall art above the crib were gifted to me by my lovely mom and sisters, which they purchased from Etsy.

Favorite Items

I love everything about Canaan's room but if I have to narrow it down to one thing, I would say the Canaan sign. I feel like it adds a lot of unique character to his nursery.

Advice

Keep it simple; adding too much just clutters the space. Also, make it special by including your own childhood items such as toys, animals, books, etc.

I admire the modern simplicity of this room. And also the neutral earth tones. They surely make everything look warm and calm and comforting.
