The Estacio’s Nursery

Description

Modern, Clean and Simple. I'm sure we will accumulate a ton of things the next few months so I wanted to keep the room simple with the necessities and build from there.

Design Inspiration

Grey and yellow! Because we aren’t finding out the sex of the baby, we decided on either Green, Yellow, Brown or Gray color schemes. We went with Gray, Yellow and Dark Brown furnishings.

Decorating Style

Modern, comfortable, simple, affordable. Most everything in the room were purchased at a discount or cheap price. We started out the room with a crib handed down from my brother. From there we  began painting the walls gray. The king size circle bed and tv give us with the option to stay with the baby if need be. We also will be placing Pom Poms above the crib once we get the Poms back from the baby shower.

Project Details

Less is more. Design and print stuff yourself (if possible). To create the head silhouettes, I took a photo our heads and finalized it in photoshop, then printed it on standard paper. The ABC photo frame was inspired from another ABC photo seen online. I designed one similar and added my own accent animals and graphic elements and printed it on inkjet photo paper.

Advice

If possible, take your time and start early. Come up with your color scheme first and work on building around an item. We started with a hand me down crib and built around it. Try to do things yourself when possible like photos and posters. Get creative with frames and experiment. Keep costs low and look for sales.

I'd love to hear any recommendations or ideas for my room. Thanks

    Meredith,

Thanks Meredith. Madden sounds really nice too. We can’t wait to find out if it’s a boy or girl. Congrats and good luck.

    Cjko,

Ya our local store kept running out of the white ones. I had to wait a couple days before they restocked.

  4. avatar Cjko says:

I was trying to buy IKEAs wooden spice racks to use as book shelves but our IKEA is always out of them and it is over two hours away anyway so looks like I have to build my own.

    Cjko,

Awesome. Thanks for the link Cjko. A little FYI for those buying from Ikea, you will need the purchase the hardware separately because the wall screws are not included. If you install them into your drywall, don’t forget to add plastic screw anchors into the wall first, then mount the ledge to the wall. These items can be purchase at almost any store, I think even grocery stores sells them in the hardware section.

Also Ana-white.com has super easy plans for wall ledges on her site if you aren’t close to an IKEA.

    maxwell,

Thank you. I’m still debating on which wall decals to get. I was looking at a few on Etsy as well as a few tagline ones. Once I figure it out I will post it.

    Nami,

Thank you for the comments. The wall shelf is from Ikea. It’s kinda difficult to find on there website because it’s called RIBBA Picture ledge. For the longest time I would search wall shelf or frame holder and it would never come up.

Beautiful room! Can you tell me where you got the white wall shelve?

We got really lucky. The diameter of the circle area is 83 inches and Ikea happened to sell a circle bed which measured 81.5 inches in diameter. We just had to buy it.

The circular bed is really neat, especially how it fits right in that nook.
