Tatum’s Coastal Toddler Room

Description

I loved my daughters nursery, so when we found out we were expecting again I knew I wanted to keep the decor and transform it into a toddler room for her.

Design Inspiration

I love coastal elements and color. I wanted to bring these ideas together to create a fun and bright environment that is toddler friendly. We added a small table and chairs and storage where she can keep her toys and play whenever she wants.

Decorating Style

I love the ocean and coastal design. My style ranges from soft muted ocean colors to bright and fun bold colors depending on the room.

Project Details

I mixed a lot of items from Etsy and large retailers (Pottery Barn Kids, Land of Nod, Michaels) and also added my own DIY items and personal touches to things. I am an artist so I created the main artwork for the nursery wall which is available through my Etsy shop as a print at www.etsy.com/shop/JaimeMcCarrierArt. I bought white plank frames from Michaels and painted them in yellow stripes to match the rest of the room. The toddler sheet is from Pottery Barn Kids,  and the quilt was bought from Shilohmae on Etsy to bring in the pop of coral. I had the starfish sign custom color matched on Etsy from JustBeachyShop.

Favorite Items

I love the new storage area we put in for her, she spends hours going through the bins and playing with all the toys. It was really affordable- the units are from Ikea, and the yellow bins are from H&M for $5.95 each.

Advice

Etsy is a great resource when you are looking for one of a kind items, or want something special. Most vendors will work with you to create custom colors or lettering. I found that finding some things from big retailers and combining them with custom, hand made items made the room feel unique.
