Sweet Tea Party Birthday

Description

A sweet tea party birthday filled with sweets, treats, flowers and all things pink and purple.

Design Inspiration

My daughter's love of tea parties and especially her pink and purple Fisher Price "Say Please" Tea Set was the inspiration for this party. The other source of inspiration was a collection of vintage colored glass cake stands recently handed down to me.

Decorating Style

sweet, traditional, casual, whimsical

Project Details

INVITATIONS - I created the invitation with pastel colored tea pot and cups illustrations on a scalloped edge background.

PRINTED CARDS - I used the scallop edge as the design shape for the rest of the printed menu cards, decor cards and thank you tags on the favors. I printed them on cardstock at home woth my HP photosmart printer and used a 3" scallop punch.

CAKE STANDS - I used cake stands for the sweets and treats table. All different colors and shapes. I also used 3 large colored stands for tea sandwiches and deviled eggs (not pictured).

FLOWERS - I filled mason jars of all different shapes and sizes with wildflowers in pink and purple. I wrapped each one with a printed card and mix-and-match pink or purple floral ribbon to create an easy, yet sweet feel.

HEADBANDS & HATS - I created the headbands and hats using silver tulle netting, faux flowers, scalloped edge ribbons and a glue gun.

DOILIES & POLKA DOT STRAWS - from Sweet Shop Lulu.

TEA CUP SIPPY CUP FAVORS - from Oriental Trading

TEA PARTY DECOR/SETS - Fisher Price "Say Please" Tea Set & ceramic polka dot mini tea set in pastel.

PINK PLACE MATS - pink felt place mats used as a table runner on sweets& treats bar from Target

PINK GINGHAM PRINT - bright pink gingham printed on cardboard

COCKTAIL BAR - I created a couple of different syrups (elderflower and strawberry) to use with martinis (for the adults) and also filled a glass pitcher with a Spiked Blackberry Sage Sweet Tea cocktail.

CAKE & SWEETS BAR - Small 6" cake, brownie bites, mini cupckaes, flower petit fours in flavors: red velvet, carrot cake, double chocolate and vanilla from Publix.

FOOD - Tea Sandwiches (Cream Cheese & Cucumber, Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese, Tuna Salad & Watercress, Egg Salad & Baby Spinach), Deviled Eggs, Stuffed Mushrooms (Prosciutto & Smoked Gouda, Pesto Parmesan), Veggies & Dip, Purple Scented Couscous Salad (made with red beets, kale, cashews & sage)

GRILLED CHEESE STATION - My husband set up a grilled cheese station for the kids (the adults loved it, too) with a variety of cheeses, meats and accoutrements.

Favorite Items

The headbands and hats were my favorite. Not only did the little girls love them, but many of the mommies were spotted wearing them also!

Sweet and girly. I think little girls should “host” a tea party at least once. It’s just a really lovely theme for them!
