Stella’s Sweet Space

Description

A sweet lavender space for my first baby full of things I love to look at.  Hopefully she will too!  This is a small (approximately 10 x 10) room with three doors and a huge window.  I was sad that I couldn't fit all my ideas in here!

Design Inspiration

I knew I wanted to paint the room lavender and I wanted to incorporate birds.  Other than that I spent hours looking at other nurseries here!

Decorating Style

Eclectic?  I don't know that I have a set decorating style.  I just find things I like!

Project Details

I've spent tons of time in the nursery already.  The longer I wait the more I change and tweak things.  The tree is a decal that came with birds, stars and a moon.  After looking at them for several months I took them down and painted my own birds which I am much happier with.  I should have painted the tree too!  There was also a different rug in here up until about a month ago. I'm not sure which one I like better. I discovered etsy.com while designing my nursery.  Dangerous! Some of the items I purchased:  Sock monkeys from warm personality, bedding from Isla Corrine, fairy mobile from nature child, fan pull from Crystal Blue Designs and giraffe from Michelle's zoo. In addition to the handmade items I bought from Etsy I got crafty and made some things myself.  The rocking horse I painted and decorated.  I made the owl pillow in the glider.  I made most of the artwork and the letters for her name.  There are a few other things in the room that I tweaked to make them my own. I wanted to bring my first baby, a pug named Lola into the room. She has a bed by the glider! Crib and glider are from BabiesRUs.  Dresser, bookcase and nightstand (repainted) from Target.

Favorite Items

I have lots!  The little red and blue chair was given to my mom as a child, then passed on to me.  The little moon nightlight was also my mom's.  I love the bedding, its so bright and cheery! The fairy mobile is so stinking cute.  The bookcase is home to some sentimental things including a teddy bear made by my cousin (Back Road Bears), my very first teddy bear, and a jar of antique marbles I collected as a child.

Advice

I know  to some there may be a lot going on in this room, but it makes me happy every time I walk into it.  Make sure YOU love the room because you'll be spending lots of time in it too!

LOVE it! We just painted our baby girl's room purple, and I want to incorporate many other colors too! I think it's wonderful. I am going to have pink, aqua, and some spring green to accent our daughter's room because like you said, they all make me so happy and that's what matters :) Thank you for the inspiration and congratulations on your baby girl.

BriskRain, some of the pictures are greeting cards from Target and some of them I made using scrapbook paper. NinaE, the mobile is from a shop on etsy called naturechild. I contacted the seller and told her what I wanted based on other mobiles she haf sold. She is in Germany so it took close to 3 weeks to arrive but was so worth the wait.

I think it all looks great. Love the horse you painted, makes room very special. I especially like the mobile and have not been able to find. Could you give me more info please?

I adore the whimsical details. The shelf with colorful storage bins and the colorful and interesting frames above it is my favorite part of the room. I just love the things you put inside the frames. Are they paintings, prints or collages? Did you make them yourself?
