Project Details

The first toy I ever bought Austin was a Sock Monkey. I was only 10 weeks pregnant and my husband and I were doing a pregnancy announcement photo shoot that can be seen here. Our photographer took a great shot of Austin's first ultrasound picture with the sock monkey and ever since that day, he has been our little monkey!! His favorite toy is a monkey that Daddy bought him for Valentine's Day, so a Sock Monkey theme birthday party just made sense.

The party was full of love for Austin and he had all his friends and family by his side to help him celebrate. We served Jungle Juice, Monkey Tails, Jungle Mix, Tropical salad, Monkey Vines, and Chimpanzee Cheese and Crackers. I ordered a beautiful smash cake from Simple Desserts and made chocolate and vanilla cupcakes for everyone else.

I made two fabric garlands for decor with fabric I found at Joann's and placed one above the drink station and another around his highchair. The colors we choose for the party were red, white, brown, tan and gray. The invitations and water bottle labels were from Designing for Peanuts and I found the sock monkey dinner plates, cake plates, napkins, birthday hats and gift boxes at Amazon. Each of Austin's guests received a to-go gift box filled with a Sock Monkey Rubber Ducky, Bubbles and some treats. I created a banner with all of Austin's monthly milestones with scrap paper I found at Michael's and had an area for people to write sweet nothings to the birthday boy. I also purchased the birthday sparkler from the PN shop.

We had a surprise guest appearance from Sock Monkey herself. The babies didn't know what to think of her and it was pretty hilarious sight to see. It was such a wonderful party and Austin was soo happy and cheerful the whole time. It was such a special day for my little family and our BIG one year old boy!!!!
