Simon’s fresh and fun room

Description

I created this nursery for my son, when I was pregnant, and had so much fun with it! I put a lot of heart and soul into the room. I hope you like it! I spent long hours rocking my baby in the glider, and, in the meantime, I enjoyed the peacefulness of the room.

Design Inspiration

My color inspiration came from the Pottery Barn bedding. I didn't want to create the typical themed nursery, and I didn't want to spend the money to buy anything expensive.  I ended up with the tree and bird theme after all.

Decorating Style

I wanted to do something much more modern in the beginning, but at the end it became more traditional.  I would say it is classic with a whimsical twist.  I like that the room feels fresh, fun and clean.

Project Details

The crib is a hand-me-down, the fan is from Lowe's, the bookshelf is from PBK, the glider and changing table are from Baby's R Us, and the table lamp is from Target. The birdhouse is from Michael's and my husband painted it white. The nightstand and the little chair are from IKEA.

Favorite Items

The tree decal from Etsy, the blanket made by grandma, the birth info picture above the bookshelf and the baby on the beach picture above the glider, both from Etsy.

Advice

I am not very crafty, so I went with a Pottery Barn bedding, but I added a personal touch to the room, and used Etsy for personal details, and decorations.

I love what you did with the room, very calm and not over done. I love the birth info picture, who is Etsy seller?

Thank you, Victoria

Thank you for commenting! I got the matroyska doll from a friend who lives in Moscow. They add some interest to the room. I want to put more pictures on the wall, because looking at the room on this website, I feel the room is too sterile, or simple.

Your nursery looks really clean, fresh and serene with the pastel hues. And oh, you got matryoshka dolls in there. So cute! And your tree and birds wall decal with the 3D bird house is beautiful. The concept was really unique.

Lovely nursery. Love your use of soft, fresh and calming colors. My favorite item has to be the wall decal with the birdhouse. The wooden birdhouse really adds an interesting twist to it. It was really creative for you to glue it there as part of the tree.
