Description
A little playful, colorful and a touch of modern this is my two boy's shared bedroom. I needed to get creative with the little space I had. The size of the room was not ideal for two twin beds and the boys were much too little for bunk beds so I tackled a small bed DIY project.
Design Inspiration
I was inspired by a pallet style coffee table I saw somewhere on the Internet.
Decorating Style
Playful modern
Project Details
I was loving the look of wood shipping pallets but not knowing where that wood comes from I opted to make my own pallets. I took the a child sized mattress from IKEA, the Vyssa Vinka and built the beds around the mattress dimensions. Here is a link to the Pallet Bed DIY. I then constructed headboards to line to walls from some pressboard, foam and fabric, you can find the tutorial HERE.
To create the houndstooth wall I used the All-over wall stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils

Advice
Don't be afraid to use color and mix up patterns.
Love it! It is so bright and colorful and the beds are so nice. I was just talking to a guy at work about beds that he saw on pinterest made with pallets and I said it is amazing what you can create. I have also seen coffee tables made with them. The boys have a cool room!

The beds are genius! I am definitely including this in my shared boys room roundup!
