Ryder’s Room

Description

Modern Nursery.

Design Inspiration

Initial inspiration was the Dwell Owl Crib Bedding. We used it to bring in the colours and hints of owls and a woodland theme.

Decorating Style

Modern and bold.

Project Details

We choose colours from the bedding. We were debating between blue and grey or the green and grey. We decided to break with the 'boy' tradition and go with the green.

We taped out a large stripe all the way around the room and got chalkboard paint tinted a chocolate brown.

To save money we had a new Ikea dresser sanded and stained to match the Oeuf crib. It worked out wonderfully.

I found a picture of storage cubes in a magazine and had my husband recreate them. He did a fantastic job.

I painted the artwork on the wall and them bought some frames on sale.

The light was a steal... only $20!

The Glider is oh so comfy, from Monte Design.

The "r" decal is from Etsy.com

The bamboo mobile is from Petite College

Favorite Items

Advice

Take a risk and shop wisely. We bought the $1000 crib secondhand off kijiji for less than half the price.

Room overall looks FANTASTIC! Was looking at a similar green for our nursery and I would love to use your chalkboard strip idea!

I like your light! And what's more, it's so cheap! Well, yeah, the owl theme is getting to be a cliche, I think, but they are still pretty and nice to look at. They are the trend of the season I guess. I remember there was a time when it was elephants, or turtles, or hippo. Today is the time for owls =D

There's that owl again! Anyway, I love the boxes. What do you call them? They're sort of a diorama, or vignette boxes. They really added a unique and very interesting touch to everything.
