Roman’s Nursery

Description

A special nursery for our son filled with meaning, owls, and love.

Design Inspiration

My husband and I were so excited to find out we were going to have a son and couldn't wait to create a room for him. We wanted his nursery to be a place that we all loved to be in. So far that is exactly the case because my husband and I just love sitting in the rocking chair, looking around and dreaming about our little man.

Decorating Style

I don't really have a style, I just like finding great deals and making them all mesh together. I absolutely love DIY projects because they're fun, budget-friendly and have so much meaning.

Project Details

I have one word: Target. Seriously, we got almost everything from there! The rocking chair was an amazing craigslist steal at only $20! My husband refinished it and I could not be happier! I also love Hobby Lobby, I got a lot of stuff for my DIY's either there or at Joann Fabrics.

Favorite Items

My favorite item is the vintage continental trailways bus. I lost my dad four years ago to cancer and that was one of his favorite childhood toys. It means so much to me to have a small piece of him in my son's nursery, and I can't wait to tell Roman about his amazing grandpa.

Advice

My best piece of advice is to just fill the nursery with things that you love. You don't have to spend a ton of money, we bought nearly everything for an amazing price at Target. Trust your gut and it will all fall into place.

Wow, I haven’t been on here in a long time…busy with my amazing little man!!!!

Thank you all so very much for the wondeful compliments on Roman’s nursery!!!! They all mean so much to me, really!!!!

aetraylor, yes, I definitely remember the paint colors :) They are Valspar, from Lowes…
the wall color is Manor Stone and the blue stripe is Reflection Pool

As a FTM, I will say that we are getting a lot of use out of this room and I could not be happier with it!!! It may sound silly, but one of my favorite parts is all of the storage bins! It is so nice to have a place for everything and be able to grab it quickly. With one hand. At 3am :)

    Thank you all, again!

Beautiful nursery! I’m a fan of Target, too, and spent a lot of time there picking out things for my baby’s nursery. I also love that you incorporated a favorite toy of your dad’s in the nursery. It’s a beautiful touch to the room. I also lost my dad to cancer (three years ago) and would love to incorporate something of his in the nursery, too. Great job, and congrats!

Thank you so much heelsy!!!! Your compliments mean so much to me!!!!! Yes, I am definitely a bargain mama… some of the stuff in Roman’s nursery even came from the dollar bins at Target :)

I love how much cute stuff you incorporated into the nursery without making it look cluttered or overdone.  I was even more impressed when I read that you’re a bargain mom-to-be.  Great work!

I think you are right in saying that you just have to fill the room with the things you love… more importantly, you just have to love what you do and it will show.  Congratulations on having Roman, I am sure that he’d be a darling!

What a great room!  I love that you have that bus toy of your father’s, that’ll be very special for your son!  Congrats on your new little one who’s on the way – little boys are the best!
