Reaves’ Nursery

Description

I wanted to create a modern nursery for our baby boy using turquoise, lime green, and brown for the colors. I chose crisp white furniture to contrast with these colors and with the deep hues of our hardwood floors.

Design Inspiration

The color scheme was chosen first with the turquoise walls and the brown and white window treatments.  The third color of lime green was incorporated in the crib bedding. I worked around these three colors finding unique pieces here and there to create the modern nursery I had visualized.

Decorating Style

Modern with some funk!!!! I'm not a "bed in a bag" kinda girl I like to find different pieces as I go...... I like clean lines with a bit of whimsy, to mix old with new, and to splurge on a few items however I am a sucker for a deal!

Project Details

-We used an old crib that my mom had and painted it white. If you choose to paint older furniture make sure to use polycrylic over the paint to prevent chipping.

-The crib skirt is Michael Miller's fretwork stripe ocean and the bumper pad is dwellstuIdio's zoo pals. I bought the material and my aunt made the bedding.

-The wall letters are from a friend's local shop signs, monograms, and more in Smithfield, NC.

-We found the dresser at an antique shop and painted it white. Then we replaced the brass pulls with glass  knobs from Lowes to get the look we wanted.

-I ordered the giraffe picture with reaves' name from nameyourdesign.com. I love their modern designs!

-The shelves are from Target and the frames from Michael's. I made the elephant and the r using scrapbook paper.

-The pillows on the loveseat are also from Target and the monogrammed blanket is handmade and monogrammed by one of my favorite shops Anna Kate's in Smithfield, NC.

-The monogrammed brown chair is from potterybarnkids.com and the pillow and blanket are from the line little giraffe.

-I enjoyed shopping at various antique shops where I found the dresser and the side table. One of my favorites is Thieves Market in Raleigh, NC.

-I also spent a lot of time on etsy.com where I found the watch me grow giraffe growth chart on the back of the door from the shop giraffesandstuff. I can get lost for hours on that website!

Favorite Items

My favorite items in the room are the light fixture by Normann-Copenhagen and the giraffe picture from nameyourdesign.com.

Advice

Thanks for the sweet comment! The whole giraffe theme centered around finding that picture. At first I didn’t want to do a theme…….but I love giraffes and went with it!

I love this modern room. I love the different prints you used and the color combination. Everything’s so stylish. I also like that you united everything with a giraffe theme.
