Posh Gold Safari Baby Shower

Description

I was hired to design a modern safari baby shower. It was an outdoor seated event for 30 guests to celebrate a first time mama-to-be and her baby boy.

Design Inspiration

I wanted this to be posh, glam, and jungle inspired. I start with gold spray painted animals and built on my theme using sea foam, ivory, and black from there.

Decorating Style

My own style is mid-century bohemian, but when working for clients I listen to their story and create a look that's unique to their personality...and then take it up a notch:)

Project Details

I had the invitations designed by Ciera Design. I chose banners and signed from Minted and had them customized with the baby's name and due date.

DIY is my passion, and shows up in any event or room I design. The largest DIY project for the event ended up gracing the floor.I decided to try my hand and a DIY gold zebra print rug, and it added quite a bit of glam to the event! The gold dipped votives were a DIY project I've used countless times. I spray painted jungle animal toys purchased from Michael's. I picked out fabric from a local shop to have blue centerpiece squares made. The floral design was by Flowerama of Springfield. I chose coral, green, and ivory with a tropical feel to go with our safari theme. The ribbon and gold tassels on the centerpiece vases were purchased from Hobby Lobby. The letter "B" was also from Hobby Lobby.

For the "mama chair", I ordered a Mongolian fur white pillow from PB Teen.

Favorite Items

By far, the DIY gold zebra print rug...It was a labor of love and I wish I could have kept it for my own home!

Advice

If you find yourself planning a baby shower and searching for a fun theme, try incorporating the colors or plan for the nursery. That way some of the cute touches and splurges for the baby shower can end up being used much longer than just a few hours.

Most first time mamas are working to get the BIG stuff in their nursery…a crib, a glider that doesn’t cost more than a mortgage payment, maybe a changing table that doubles as a dresser. How much would she love to have some sweet little touches for the room just handed to her?

Think about the little touches...sometimes those have the biggest impact!
