Polka Dots & Candy Baby Shower

Description

Baby Shower for the arrival of Baby Boy Drake. Classic touch of polka dots combined with sweet treats to satisfy any craving.

Design Inspiration

The Mommy-to-be has a love for candy, so I wanted to create a shower specifically around that.  And what is sweeter than polka dots?!  I thought it was a perfect combination.

Decorating Style

Eclectic.  I love to mix traditional with vintage and modern touches.  I feel that it brings a lot of depth to a project.

Project Details

I created the entire shower on my own.  Lots of DIY projects! I was always at Hobby Lobby or Jo-Ann Fabrics. To get started on the planning process I went through several event planning blogs and photographers blogs for creative inpiration. I looked at hundreds of photos (including all the parties on Project Nursery) the Internet is a perfect resource for inspiration!

Favorite Items

My favorite items at the shower were the "Drake" gumball letters above the candy table and the descriptive signs for all the candy - I am especially drawn to little details, they are so satisfying to me, even if no one notices (which they usually do!)

Advice

Don't get discouraged by the whole picture.  Start small. Anyone can create a "sweet" event no matter what budget.  Start early and plan.  I always make a detailed list of what has to be completed separated into categories: Guest List-Colors-Theme-Invitations-Decor-Food-Drinks-Gifts-Music-Games.  And especially don't shy away from DIY projects, they are budget friendly...start with a theme and then use the Internet for creative inspiration.

Not much of a polka dots fan, but I love how you put in the various variations on the theme, such has having those multi-colored candies in a glass container and the marshmallows.  Love how you wrapped those utensils on polka dot napkins and matching ribbons :)
