Minimal Boho Nursery

I had always envisioned a very gender neutral nursery, and our favorite colors are black, white and neutrals. Our entire nursery was inspired by this wallpaper I found on Livettes Wallpaper. I am obsessed. When we found out the gender, we just went from there – trying to keep it super minimal but yet designed very well. My advice for readers would be pick a favorite piece for the room you cannot live without and design it around that.

What Little Ladies are Made of Inspired Nursery

This could be my last nursery to design, so I put all of my (soon to be girl mom) feelings into making this nursery as heartfelt as I could. I Kim Kardashian ugly cried for 45 minutes when we found out we were having a girl. I have known for years what I wanted our daughter’s nursery to consist of.. Imagination, inspiration and where she comes from. I wanted a space filled with tea parties, doll houses, playing dress up and a representation of everything Louisiana for our LA girl complete with dreamy pink check wallpaper and a sprinkle bathroom. I began with the colors of soft pink , white and gold then incorporated a few greens. My idea expanded to a wall all about where she comes from, our Louisiana girl, which includes the state song “You are my sunshine”, Nola must, the state fruit “strawberry”, state bird “pelican”, state insect “honey bee”, state flower “magnolia” and even added a crawfish pacifier. The next spot is all about imagination. A tea party and dress up area with fun shoes, golden story books, jewelry, hair pieces and dresses. Lastly inspiration for out little lady to be everything she wants to be in life. Quotes fill the room to uplift and also bring humor. What’s life without a little laughter? I hope this space is the best start to her big future.

Uno, Dos, Tres, Fiesta! – A Bright & Colorful Third Birthday Party

My daughter Juniper adores the movie, “Coco,” and that served as my inspiration in designing the elements of her 3rd birthday party. When learning to talk, she called herself “Juju,” so I incorporated her nickname into the party. I used the movie’s color scheme of red, pink, orange and blue across the decor, along with calaveras (sugar skulls) and flowers.
A few of my favorite details from her party:

The papel picado banners I created, especially the ones designed for each guest – the kids loved finding their names hanging above them!
The kid’s treat bags, which each contained a sugar skull cookie, initial of their name, and number 3!
Her two-tier sugar skull birthday cake. After a few trial runs, I realized I could make the skulls ahead of time out of royal icing, and decorate their faces with food markers – much easier than piping everything!
The invitation & signage designed for the party
Handmade tissue paper flowers & tassels
The handmade royal icing skulls, guitars and chocolate leaf decorations for the cupcakes & cake
Nacho Bar!

Ocean Room

The room we used was actually my husband’s childhood room and had been ocean themed since my husband loves the ocean and sharks. We decided to stick with that theme but redo the whole room. I was inspired by some images I had seen on Pinterest and then just googled different fish and sketched their silhouettes onto paper. Then I cut them out and traced them onto the freshly painted walls with chalk and painted inside the chalk lines with a darker blue. It was a lot more time consuming than I thought it would be but so worth it.

Chandler’s Not-So-Garanimals Nursery

I love animals! They are curious and innocent… like babies. And I wanted a gender neutral theme for my baby boy. This palette is sophisticated yet whimsical. He can be his adorable infant self and even mature into the space as he ages.
I was inspired by the clean lines and handsome look of mid-century modern furniture and the natural habitats of animals in the wild. The space incorporates a maintenance free “living” green wall on a floor-to-ceiling chalkboard to pique baby’s curiosity and offers a place to express his creative side (you know… once he has the motor skills to do so).  Babies love the high contrast of black juxtaposed to white so his script wallpaper keeps his newborn eyes wowed for quite a bit of time in his crib (perfect for me to steal away for a load of laundry change or a potty break).
All in all, we love our space! It’s just right.

A Blush Pink Nursery for Hannah

We found out we were expecting just 2 months after moving into our brand new home in Woodstock, GA. I couldn’t wait to design and create another nursery for a girl (we have a 5 year old little girl at home as well)! I ultimately wanted to create a space that would be soothing, sweet, and in general a place where all of us would want to hang out! I stuck with Blush Pink, Grey and Gold in her nursery as I knew these colors would work well with some items we were going to recycle from Big Sister’s nursery (https://projectnursery.com/projects/sweet-carolines-nursery/) including her crib, crib skirt etc.
In addition to purchasing some new items for the nursery, I also did a few DIY projects.  The Ikea dresser pulls, and curtain rods all got a coat of Gold Spray Paint.  I also did a quick DIY watercolor project for the X and O’s.  The large “H” in her room came unfinished from an Etsy shop called “48 hour monogram” and I painted it with a couple coats of white paint.
Occasionally while I was pregnant, I would catch our older daughter reading to her dolls in Hannah’s room, practicing for when she would become a big sister – they were the sweetest moments!
We welcomed our sweet baby Hannah Grace in August of 2018!

Soft Floral, Blue, and Blush Pink with Pops of Gold

This is my first baby, and I had so much fun slowly putting together my daughter’s nursery! I decided to start by finding a floral fabric I loved, and having it made into crib sheets and curtains. I went with a beautiful floral fabric that had soft colors and focused on blush pink and soft blue. From there, I just went with the colors in that fabric by choosing soft blue walls, blush pink crib skirt and blanket, blush paper flowers on the wall, and pops of gold all over the place. We also ended up with “mini-themes” throughout the nursery (flowers, unicorns, princess) throughout the decorating process. Our sweet Madison is only 6 months old right now, but it already fits her little personality!!

Whimsical Nature Themed Nursery

When we first found out we were having a boy, I knew I wanted to design a whimsical nursery that reflected my husbands and my love for nature. I envisioned a space brought to life with a landscape of trees, furry animals friends, and magical storybook tales. But it was important to me that the space not only evoked imagination, but also carried a classic sophistication. There were times that I had a hard time balancing the two and remembering that this is a BOYS nursery. I often lean towards feminine and ornate designs so I had to keep myself in check!
My favorite part of the nursery is the mural of trees lining the crib’s wall. I felt like it carried me into a scene of Peter Rabbit and I used that as the inspiration behind the nurseries design. Because it was the focal point, I wanted to find things that were subtle and wouldn’t interfere with it. I kept the furniture a soft white so that the colors in the wall would show through while coordinating with the pops of blue in the patterned rug, pillows, and wall paint. The playful touches like the pom pom trim curtains, woodland animal pillow, and plaid rug kept the space playful while the elegant furniture pieces helped balance the space. Some of the furniture pieces were thrift store finds that I refinished in a shabby chic style. I love finding antique pieces that are unique and tell a story, plus they often save me a lot of money!
The nursery is ready but won’t be complete until our bundle of joy arrives. My hope is that as he grows, he finds this space as special and inspiring as we do and shares our passion for nature and imagination.

a Modern Batman Party for Dax

My son wanted a Batman party so I whipped this simple but modern party up in about a week. It’s so fun to do a modern take on a traditional theme. If you like more creative and modern themes, but your little one will not be deterred from a character party, my tips are to use mostly solid colored partyware and then pepper in ‘nods’ to the character. Since the Batman logo is pretty simple and clean, it was easy to incorporate a few elements to give both me and Dax the look we were going for. ;) You can see any sources not listed here over on my blog- Pretty Real.

Modern Bee Cool Nursery

When we learned we were going to have a baby boy, I instantly knew I wanted some metallic + modern theme in his nursery that can easily transition into the toddler room. Before I chose any colors, I came across the wall stencils and I absolutely fell in love with the bees (who said we can`t use bees for boys?) We chose blue, gray, beige for the color scheme with mixed metallic accents throughout. It came out bright, airy and perfect for our little boy !

The Twins: Double Beauty

THE TWINS: DOUBLE BEAUTY✨
A Nursery inspired by the modern and ultra chic lifestyle.
We created: “The Twins Nursery”.
A place where a prince and a princess live.
Using a grey, white and french blue color palette, with golden accents, incorporating the mix of patterns and textures, playing with the lighting, simulating a rain of stars, giving a magical feeling to the space.
Providing the Twins a place where they can dream, laugh and venture.

Pink and White Llama Inspired Nursery

The main point of inspiration for Blakely’s nursery was the standing plush llama I found at Pottery Barn Kids. The rest of the nursery theme grew from there. I knew we wanted a very girly feel, with bright whites and pinks, and a serious book collection for her to grow with. We started with the bright white furniture and from there found her bedding in the West Elm x PBK collaboration. I loved mixing the Mongolian fur and crushed velvet in the pillows and curtains to add different textures to the room. The styling of her bookcase was the funnest part of the nursery. We used books my mom had saved from childhood as well as some new additions and added some fun additional llama pieces to bring the theme together. This was such a fun project for our very first baby girl!

World of Laughter

This is my second time doing an “It’s a Small World” room. We recently moved and I was sad to tell her old room goodbye! This time I was inspired by the ride’s queue at Walt Disney World. I’m a HUGE Disney nerd, I love Mary Blair and I couldn’t be more excited to have another room in our home that pays her so much honor! You cannot help but smile every time you peak inside and see it. Small World was always my favorite ride growing up. I loved all the textures, the kids outfits, the color, the boats, and of course the message the song brings to people. I have many happy memories riding it so this room fills me with happiness and nostalgia of days gone by. One trip in particular that comes to my mind was one that my grandparent took us on the ride was closed for refurbishment. My Papaw was an extremely frugal man who had grown up during the Great Depression and rarely did any thing extravagant. He paid for us to stay longer than trip just so I could ride It’s a Small World. I only hope I pass on so many great memories to my kids!

Gender Neutral Safari Nursery

Hello! I am Hailey, a first time mama to our baby boy coming 9/10/18. He is our little IVF miracle that we have waited so long for and prayed so hard for. He was our one and only embryo to survive, and he’s made it all the way! We can hardly wait to meet him.
As we were struggling with infertility, before we ever started IVF, I had dreamed of a soft, neutral safari nursery – if we were ever lucky enough to have a baby. I’ve collected things here and there over the last couple of years, and I am so thrilled that I was able to use them and everything came together so beautifully.
I love how soft his nursery is, but also love the contrast that we brought in with the black metal crib and book ledges. There are several pieces in this nursery that mean a lot, and give unique character to his room.

Vintage rattan elephant. This was actually the very first piece I picked for our nursery and has inspired the design of the room. I’ve had this for nearly two years! I found him through facebook on a yard sale page. Bringing old and new items together creates an eclectic look that is really hard to achieve if you are buying everything from Target and Pottery Barn.
Handmade Knit Elephant Mobile – I found this on Etsy from a shop in Lithuania over a year ago and I knew that if we ever became pregnant, this would be one of my only splurges for the nursery. The mobile was $150, but worth every single penny and heirloom quality. It might be my favorite thing in the entire room!
Mid Century wooden dresser – Mixing design styles can be one of the best things you can do in a room to bring in character and depth. I found this dresser on another online yard sale page.
Handmade wooden sign – “How wonderful life is, now you’re in the world” This was something me and my husband made together for our sweet miracle boy- the last thing we added to the nursery, and a perfect finishing touch.
Black metal & cream upholstered crib – This crib is the perfect mix of soft and bold materials. So perfect for a baby boy, but I will also plan to use it if I ever have a daughter.
Area Rug: In my opinion, rugs are the best way to tie a room together & you don’t necessarily have to spend a ton of money.
Baby Animal Prints – I’ve had these picked out on Etsy for months and months. They bring such a soft touch to the nursery. They printed beautifully on canvas and I framed them myself in IKEA frames.
Books – I’m a huge fan of decorating a nursery with things that your baby will be able to use and enjoy. Me and my husband had a ton of fun picking out books together.
Animal Alphabet – Illustrated and designed by me.
