Hannah’s Turquoise and Orange Nursery
This is a turquoise and orange nursery I did for my first born. I did it as a surprise for my wife. All she was allowed to see before it was finished was the closet curtains.

My daughter loved the Cat in the Hat when she was three so I thought it would be a perfect theme for her birthday party. It was difficult to find items at the local party store so we had to improvise a bit. By using a few theme colors – red, white and turquoise we were able to pull off a simple Cat in the Hat party.
My daughter loves Rapunzel from the movie Tangled. For her fourth birthday she requested a Tangled party. With the help of some plastic yellow table cloths, some yellow ribbon and yarn we were on our way!
The sailing/nautical theme came together after buying the first item (the poop deck plaque). There was no overall vision for this room, we just started and kept rolling with it. I googled “nautical nursery” and really liked the thick bold stripes I saw in other rooms. It took us forever to decide on how many stripes, how thick, how far apart etc..but once we started the first wall looked great. The second wall was another story. We realized the entire ceiling was not level and one side was about and inch and a half taller than the other, making the stripes look crooked. Another hour of thinking, measuring and re-taping and we figured it out. We used frog tape but when we pulled it off our worst nightmare was realized…it bled through every where. Nothing 6 hours worth of touching up with a tiny brush couldn’t fix :(
In the end my husband and I are very happy with the way the room turned out…but we will NEVER paint stripes again!
We wanted a fresh take on a traditional nursery. We liked the idea of the lavender color scheme and the traditional vertical stripes.
When we found out that we were having a boy, I envisioned a bright, bold, and colorful nursery where he would feel most comfortable, and love playing, reading, rocking, and falling asleep in his own special place.
As a mother of two boys, you can only imagine how excited I was to finally get to buy pink for someone other than myself. I have always dreamed of pageants, playing dress up, pigtails and hair bows. So I knew her nursery was going to be my main focus while I was pregnant. I spent almost 6 months on her room, and I love every aspect of it. I like to think of myself as a DIYer and I think I am creative. I love putting my own spin on things, and I LOVE Pinterest. So there are many Pinterest inspired things in her room.

A nursery for my little princess, Miss Whitney Grace.
Neutral, cheerful, cozy room, suitable for both genders and easily adaptable to any age.
Selah Grace’s girly Onederland First Birthday Tea Party! It was a day of fun, celebrating the greatest gift we have ever received, our little girl!
A few shots from my oldest daughter’s room. She’s now 2.5 but these were her early nursery photos. We did not know the gender until birth, so I went with a gender neutral palate of brown and green.
She is our second child. Hence the room not being posted until now. We didn’t know her gender until birth. I chose chose navy and green for her little nook of a room. These two colors are one of my most favorite combinations and I knew I could splash a bit of pink in there if a baby girl emerged – and sure enough she did!
Our little mermaid is turning two and we celebrated under the sea style!
I wanted to create a fun and friendly space for my little ones to help usher in the new year.
I created this tassel garland with old brown paper bags and sales ads. My ornament tree is made from an old standing paper towel rack. My ornament tree is made from a reused apple cider bottle and branches from my backyard. I am a lover of contemporary living. Ever since I thought of making our daughter’s nursery I was looking for something that looks modern and contemporary. After my rigorous research I finally settled down to “Gray and Yellow” theme, Gray was to give the room that elegance and Yellow was to diffuse that freshness and incandescence for a girl’s room. I loved how the combination was vivid as well as graceful.
However, I wanted to keep a balance between splurging for the nursery and ‘thinking too much’. I think I was able to get to it finally!
Thanks to my husband AJ for taking wonderful shots of the nursery!
