Emma Kate’s Nursery
I wanted a sweet and contemporary theme.
I wanted a sweet and contemporary theme.
Given the timing of the baptism right before the holidays, it didn’t make sense not to work in a Christmas theme, so taking the inspiration from the Nutcracker, we opted for shades of pink and silver instead of more traditional reds and greens which gave our winter wonderland a more girly, whimsical feel!
I knew that I wanted a theme of some sort for the nursery but really had no idea until I came upon the bedding set while searching online. I immdiately fell in love with the zoo animals and had to have it. Giraffes, Monkeys and Elephants are the main focus of the room with lots of color. Despite me being a quilter and my mother owning a fabric store, I couldn’t for the life of me find anything I liked (or could afford). That was until I saw the “Little Kukla” line from Suzy Ultman. . . . **swoon** I am such a nerd, I actually wrote her a letter proclaiming my ultimate fan status to her work. She never responded. Hahahah.
Space themed nursery for our new son.
I knew I didn’t want a super themed, matchy-matchy nursery, so I picked out a color scheme and tried to create a clean cut, comfortable room.
We wanted a nursery that was fun, bright and happy so we choose blue, yellow and orange.
I wanted to create a nursery for my little guy without using the standard colors such as light blue. I ended up using yellow and teal as my starting colors in the bedding and curtains and then worked my way around the room by adding pops of color. ( sorry for the terrible lighting in some of the pictures)
This nursery was designed in collaboration with my then pregnant client and my now close friend. She wanted to do something girly but in the blue family. I think we definitely achieved that.
Hazel’s nursery is a mix of budget pieces, DIY projects, and vintage/ thrift store finds. We wanted to create a bright, cheery room without feeling like it was overly baby-themed. We wanted a space that could grow with her and be enjoyed for years to come!
A nursery for my new baby girl.
We set out to recreate and modify existing pieces, spaces, and must haves to build a space that is both relaxing and inspiring for our baby girl.
One of our most memorable moments of 2012 was our daughter, Harper Rose’s 1st Birthday Celebration! Although a nod to her first 365 days of youth, we wanted this celebration to be about all of us, and the fact that we made it through the first year of parenthood!
Her birthday is in the dead of summer here in Arizona so options are limited! I began brainstorming a few days before the event… HA! Kidding- I pretty much started brainstorming our first night in the hospital. If you can’t tell by now, that kind of move is all my style! We came up with a Dive- In Movie theme where our adult friends could lounge in the pool and stay cool and our friends with kids could enjoy the movie on the big screen; we were thinking beautiful summer night, huge projection movie screen, swimming, floaties, movie candy and concessions and ice cold Kool-aid (and adult refreshments)!
I put this nursery together for our soon to be son, Riley.
Ariella is our little winter baby, with her birthday falling in the first week of January. Even though we live in Los Angeles and it’s not technically freezing over here, I still loved the idea of making a ‘winter wonderland’ themed 1st birthday party for her. I’d seen quite a few winter wonderland kids parties floating around on the web, but I didn’t want recreate those typical winter parties with penguins, polar bears, and igloos. Instead, I had the idea in my head for a rustic/shabby chic winter wonderland party that still had the winter feel, but was a bit more girly & sophisticated. Just like our little girl!
Hunting Lodge themed nursery for baby #2.
Aqua with splashes of pink and gray and chevron prints come together in a modern and stylish baby girl nursery.
I decided that since my wife had the hard part of the deal, I could at least take care of the nursery for her. Our little boy isn’t due for a couple weeks, but the room is done and ready for him. I posted these pictures on another forum for expectant parents and some of them suggested I share it on here so here they are. I had a blast coming up with the designs and taking them from paper and pencil to completed pieces. Hope you all enjoy!!
