Owen’s Room

Description

A fun, fresh, and cozy nursery for a baby boy with transitional fabrics, vintage furniture, and cottage elements in ocean blue and olive green.

Design Inspiration

This room was inspired by the fabrics used in the space.  I found them, fell in love with them, and knew they had to be in the room.  All of the other elements were selected to coordinate with the fabrics.  The antique dresser and child sized rocking chair were custom painted to match the fabrics.

Decorating Style

My style is vintage cottage.  I love painted furniture, antiques, and cottage accessories.  This room has all of these elements with a hint of contemporary style to keep it fresh and fun.

Favorite Items

My favorite items in the room are the glider rocker (I absolutely love buffalo check fabrics!) and the artwork above the antique blue cabinet.  The prints are young and fun and help the space to feel like a nursery.

Advice

Find inexpensive antique furniture at antique fairs or consignment shops and paint it to match the room colors to help create instant character in the room.  Add contemporary elements in small doses, like the lighting, to keep the room fresh.  Select a fabric that you love and run with it--build around this fabric for a pulled together look!

Well, except for your photos giving me a stiff neck, I'd say your room is pretty nice. I love the changing table, and the wicker baskets, too.

Was looking at your photos and trying to make sense of them... And it took a few moments for me to realize they were posted sideways. Anyway, it's a nice room, and I'd say it indeed looks warm and cozy.

I love the custom made bedding and all the detail.....like the painted dresser.  You should try to rotate your pictures....it is hard to look sideways.  Five stars!
