Oh, The Places You’ll Go…Global Nursery!

Description

A modern, sophisticated nursery custom designed by Mommy and Daddy!

Design Inspiration

Planning to move overseas by Baby's first Birthday, we designed the nursery with travel in mind, and we're also inspired by Dr. Suess' book Oh, The Places You'll Go!

Decorating Style

Modern. Sophisticated.

Project Details

Daddy did the modern wainscoting treatment (2x2 boards painted and nailed to the wall) on the walls to add dimension to the small space. Mountain painting was designed and painted by Mommy and Daddy. Quote and embroidery circles done by Mommy and all linens custom designed and created by Grandma! Nearly all the furniture (crib, changing table, trunk, and globe) came from Craigslist, which helped to make the room very budget friendly!

Favorite Items

I am in love with the quilt that Grandma hand stictched. It will be something we will cherish forever. The antique travel chest is a fun element, and I think the hanging lanterns worked out perfectly as the light treatment in the room (they are on a dimmer switch so we can do diaper changes in the middle of the night without turning on a bright light)

Advice

My best advice is to make the room unique to you! Nearly every aspect of the room has special meaning to us. It took us a while to piece it all together, but we are happy we were patient. Think outside the box and enjoy the process!

@lrbaumer: Oh my! I so love the budget you've worked with here! If my math is right, it's all less than $600 and it's soooo lovely!

Recreate- she does an excellent job, doesn't she?

Dandelion, the wall treatment cost about $100. The crib, changing table and globe were bought for $120 on craiglist, the rug was only $8, we got the lanterns for free and the rocking chair is on loan from Grandma and Grandpa. The materials for the linens was about $80, so we spent a total of just over $300 for the whole room!!

I think there have been a lot of rooms here that were inspired by Dr. Seuss.  You have to tell us how much this room costs!  I keep on guessing, reading that most of the items here are DIY or came from Craigslist!
