Description
This is the third year my daughter Sophia will perform as a Mouse and a Bon Bon at the Nutcracker Ballet. She dreams about one day performing as Clara and ultimately as “The Sugar Plum Fairy.” To kickoff rehearsal season, I decided to Surprise Sophia with a Nutcracker Ballet Party for her and her Ballerina Friends. My inspiration for the party was a gorgeous photo that I took backstage during a Nutcracker performance. I knew that this magical photo of gorgeous Ballerinas would be perfect as a customized invitation for the party.
I decorated my fireplace mantel with different elements of the Ballet. Glitzy Christmas trees, elegant nutcrackers, giant pinwheels from Via Blossom and my Ballerina Photo turned into a canvas as the focal point. To add some warmness to the Christmas atmosphere I hung 3 gorgeous Stockings I customized with family photos and a winter landscape. I decorated small Christmas Trees with adorable double sided ornaments of my kids at different stages of their lives.
I really enjoyed turning the dessert table into a theater stage by DIYing velvety curtains and a snowflake backdrop. Spectacular desserts were truly center stage. I was honored to have the fabulous Vy of Vypassetti create the most amazing Nutcracker Cake Pops. The super talented Magdeline ofMagdeline’s Cakes worked her magic by shipping the most adorable Nutcracker and Star Cookies. They were a true work of art. The most darling pink Christmas Tree Kabobs by the lovely Marie ofSweet Indeed added the perfect touch to our 8 layer cake and to the mantel. Our salted caramel cupcakes were taken to the next level by the creative work of Brittany of Edible Details who created gorgeous Ballet Slipper and Nutcracker cupcake toppers.
Our little guests turned into the Sugar Plum fairy as soon as they arrived. They danced to Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker music and enjoyed pink lemonade in our Nutcracker Cups from the Via Blossom Shop.
The girls’ table showcased Via Blossom’s latest collection of Nutcracker partyware; from adorable plates, to magic crackers filled with trinkets to Nutcracker Cups. I added a family touch to the table by displaying our Christmas card, which I had recently designed through Tiny Prints. Our Ballerinas went home with customized mugs filled with Hot Cocoa mix. The Mugs featured backstage stage photos of my little Sophia as a Bon Bon and a Mouse with Ballerinas from her classical Ballet academy.
This magical evening was captured to perfection by the super talented Spencer of Lovely little’s Photography.
My little Sophia skipped a few years of grueling training to become her beloved Sugar Plum Fairy for one day and I’m so lucky to be part of this special day!
