Walt and Whitney’s Neutral Twin Nursery

Description

I participated in a 6 week design challenge, so this was a very quick design project! When I found out I was having boy/girl twins I knew that I wanted to create a neutral nursery. I naturally tend to decorate everything in my home white and neutral, so the nursery was no different.

Design Inspiration

My inspiration piece was the gold vintage trunk I had thrifted a few years prior that was already in the room (originally a guest bedroom). The rug (via Home Goods) was the first purchase I made, because that was what I wanted to tie everything back to. I was going for an eclectic vibe that was modern yet comfy. Our biggest purchases were the Ikea hemnes dresser and glider. I wanted a comfy glider that my tall husband could also enjoy (during those long nights)

Decorating Style

Eclectic. I love mixing new modern pieces with vintage pieces. I love color, but tend to decorate on the neutral side because I only want to paint once, and I wanted to be able to transition the nursery to a guest bedroom after I move my babies to a toddler room.

Project Details

Geometric & "W" Wall Art: Made by my friend Katie

Favorite Items

It's hard to choose just one, but I love the Good Morning/Goodnight posters. They were free downloads from blogger, Bethany Menzel, who tragically lost her daughter Goldie. When I see these posters I think about the gift of life, and how I need to cherish every day with my children and family.

Advice

Don't be afraid to mix textures, but keep it simple. Start with the large purchases (rug, furniture) and build the room off of those key pieces.

Hi. I was wondering what color Keekaroo peanut changer you have there? Is it the Vanilla or Sable? I also have a white dresser and wanted the Grey colored peanut but it looks very light in your picture if that is grey. Thanks!
