Description
The nursery theme was based on a new moms love for Monet's Water Lily paintings. We wanted to keep the room soft and delicate, with light purple hues, hand painted walls, and splash of vintage style. Keeping in mind with sustainability, we created a room that had items which would grow with the child; creating little waste while the baby grew with age.
Design Inspiration
The inspriation for the room was the artist Monet. We chose a Monet Water Lily painting that was individually placed in a variety of vintage style frames for a focal point over the glider. We incorporated glass floral knobs, soft lilac colors, and a hand painted tree nestled over the crib.
Decorating Style
The style of the nursery would best be described as transitional. We mixed traditional furniture items such as a sleigh crib, with vintage frames and modern floral paintings.

Favorite Items
My favorite item in the room would be the cluster of vintage frames. It was a great surprise for my client to have such a unique focal point. Most nurseries consist of the normal "cutesy" items, but this was a more "grown up" nursery which fit her style.
Advice
Don't fall into the norm. The nursery design is really for yourself as a new mom. Especially in this economy, It is smart to choose a style you will love and has possibilities to last throughout the age of 6-8.
This is one of my favorite rooms on this site. I could see myself relaxing in that corner chair, even without baby! It’s a very soothing, simple design.
I wish I had a room like this as a kid.
No I think I’m going to make a room like this for myself!
I do hope your Walker grows up as talented as you are. I love the way you had all those paintings framed and displayed on the wall like that. And I agree with BriskRain, the purple is a great choice and the classic pieces are great contrasts!
I like the classic pieces of furniture you have here contrasting with the purple of the room. Great work!
