Description
I’m very excited to reveal our baby boy’s nursery since it’s been a “labor of love” for the last month and half. We moved into our new home Christmas week when I was 32 weeks pregnant, so there wasn’t much time to decorate, but I had a vision for months. There’s nothing like the nesting instinct to bring it to life and get a room decorated ASAP!
Design Inspiration
Our goal with the nursery was to create a colorful, modern, fun and stylish space. I got inspiration from the tree wall decals, the color palette (grey, turquoise, red, and yellow), and the Chevron fabric. We didn’t follow a theme, but loved incorporating animals and woodland creatures to give it some whimsy. I wanted a room that he could grow into, and I absolutely LOVE how it turned out. It is my favorite room in the house right now and I visit it daily in anticipation of our little man’s arrival (he’s due in 9 days!).
Decorating Style
I love clean designs with pops of color.

Advice
Spend some time reviewing design blogs and Project Nursery for ideas and inspiration, then make a mood board in PowerPoint to see how your vision comes together. It will help keep you focused as you look for items. Be sure to scour your local craigslist for used furniture pieces. It’s surprising how lightly used baby furniture can be….like new! Etsy is a great place for prints, decals, and handmade items. Don’t be afraid to get crafty. I’m not very crafty at all and made the curtains, crib skirt, and mobile with some short cuts (iron on hem tape = no sewing!).

I love the blue color you choose, all I can seem to find is a navy and turquoise in the chevron print... do you have the link to the exact fabric by chance?

Nicole, I made the pillow with the left over fabric from the curtains and skirt. I don't sew well, but found this great no-sew tutorial online at http://budgetwisehome.com/no-sew-pillow-cover-tutorial/ It was very easy to do. Best of luck!

I found the Family Rules canvas at T. J. Maxx and I believe Marshalls also carried it. Hope they still have them on hand.

Nicole,
Tasha Cune,
Thank you! The knit pouf has come in handy as both a foot rest and seat. I also adore the deer.
