Modern Owl Nursery

Description

The nursery is a mixture of neutral colors with pops of blue and teal for a baby boy.  And incorporates modern style with woodland owls.

Design Inspiration

The design inspiration came from the bedskirt.  I loved the colors - teal, blue, gray, brown - and adored the fact that there was some texture to it (it's a canvas fabric with different elements of depth).  After that was chosen the rest of the nursery evolved.

There is one last element to add to the room and that will be a decal above the crib with Baby Koz's first and middle name.

Decorating Style

My style is definitely modern.  And I wanted to make sure the key pieces - crib, dresser, and glider recliner - could be used well into the future.  The crib converts into a toddler bed and then a full bed.  Both the crib and dresser are made of solid wood and are very sturdy.  The glider recliner is a piece of furniture that can be used in the nursery for now and in the living room down the road.

Advice

Take your time planning all the elements of the nursery.  We found out at 21 weeks that we were going to have a baby boy.  The first thing I did was order the crib and dresser since those had long lead times.  Then I took my time finding the best deals I could on the remainder of the items.  And decide what is most important to you and spend the money there - in my case, it was for good quality furniture that would last for years to come.
