Max’s Room

Description

It took us awhile but we finally finish our sons room! We finally purchased our first home when he was 7 months and 4 months later its finally complete. We love that it's something he can grow with.

Design Inspiration

Jenna Lyon's design for her son Beckett. LOVE THIS ROOM!

Decorating Style

Modern but usually with a vintage twist. I love flea market and thrift store finds! But I think this room design is more modern.

Project Details

We did the whole room for under $475 and that includes everything! The biggest expence was the crib at $300! The room used to be an UGLY tan and we totally transformed it! Most items were bought at Walmart, the Dollar Store, Target or thrifty finds.

Favorite Items

The photo wall,  the black chalkboard wall and of course the ceiling!

Still on the hunt for a large "M" to place on top of the dresser and a rug. Also a new retro chair in black to replace the old recliner we have in there since I wont be nursing anymore.

Advice

The biggest way to recreate this look is the ceiling stripe. And as long as you have a ladder, some frogger tape and paint, then you're on your way!

The chalkboard wall did require some of my husbands handy skills because we took off the texture and made it a flat surface for smooth writing,

Love this room!! So cool and creative! I’m curious, where did you find the dresser? Did you paint it black or buy it that way? Thanks!

I’m usually not a fan of modern looks, but I LOVE this room!  Great use of bold colors and the chalboard wall is great!  I’ve been dying to do that in a nursery some day.  Wonderful job!

WOW!!!! Less than $500 and it’s just so beautiful!  I love how you put in the bright ceiling to offset the dark and white walls!   Love this room so much!

Thanks so much for the comments!

Ysczabel: The piece above the door was a garage sale find. It was a white ceramic outdoor decorative piece that I spray painted glossy black. It was only $1!! I had to buy it since my sons middle name is king and it has that big crown on the top.

frenchrum: YES! The recliner is a Goodwill find for $7! I’ve had it for a couple years now & is the most comfortable swivel/ rocking chair I have ever sat in!

I love the chair!  Is that a thrifted item?  Great color.

This room is adorable!  I so love the way you used dark paint on one hand and bright colors on another!  And you made use of really cute accents too.  What’s that above the door?  And where did you get that?
