Malone’s Quirky Nursery

Description

I wanted a nursery that would be easy for my little girl to grow into. I decided on a chocolate brown, blue, red, yellow and white color scheme. I love Anthropologie and that was the inspiration for the room. I think it turned out well and Malone seems to love it! Go to megandcalconner.blogspot.com for more photos!

Design Inspiration

Quirky finds from Anthropologie are dear to my heart and this was the inspiration for her room.  I also wanted a nursery that she could grow into.

Decorating Style

I like to mix old and new, modern and traditional.  With a little whimsy too.  I don't like things to be too matchy matchy.

Project Details

I was 7 months prego when I put the tree wall decal up so my sister helped me out with that one.  It was very easy.  Went right up.  The decal above the bookcase however was a little harder.  I used rate my space, design dazzle, this website, Little Heirlooms for room inspiration.

Favorite Items

I love the mobile.  It was the jumping off point of the room.  I also love the artwork by the window.  I think the saying is so cute and matched the room perfectly!

Advice

I combed through tons of pictures before jumping into the room.  I was pretty prepared for the room I was trying to achieve.  I knew what I didn't want and that seemed to help guide me through the design process.  Find pieces you really love and you can make it work in the room.  Happy decorating!

The lamp is part of the bedding suite.  It is called Delilah by Cocalo Couture.

Hi Megan, do you have a blog?  I thought I saw this room while I was blog browsing…I’ve been trying to find it again, but I can’t remember what it’s called…If this is you, could you tell me the name of it?  I’d love to follow :)  I love this room, great job!

What I like in this nursery is that you used muted colors, and then added splashes of bright red. Seeing this room makes me want to go to Anthropologie!

Very inspiring!  I’m a big fan of any girl’s nursery that isn’t pink.  (I love Anthro too.  I totally see the spirit of that place in this room!)

I think the cherry blossom wall decal is absolutely adorable. It goes perfectly with the color of your wall. And the circular artwork by the window does look interesting. Too bad I can’t clearly see what they really look like.

I love a lot of things in this room! The lamp, the mobile, the artworks, the wall decals. I’d say you really achieved the whimsical effect you wanted.

I love that you have used bold, non-traditional colours for a girl, but still created a really beautiful feminine room. While pink is great, it’s lovely to see other options.
