Maddie’s Purple & Grey Nursery

Description

Creating a nursery for our little girl Madeline Delaney that incorporates Mommy's love of purple and owls.  We were limited in our ability to decorate, as we currently living in an apartment but tried to add as much personalization and style as possible.  We also had to make the nursery a duel purpose space, so had to be able to fit in the existing double bed.  The glider rocker had to be moved into the living room to make everything fit.

Design Inspiration

We commited to an owl theme early on, but didn't want it to be too much, so tried to keep the other items somewhat neutral in mostly purple and grey.  We were inspired by the handmade quilt on the bed that was made for Mommy when she was younger.  We took design cues from various blogs including Lay Baby Lay and GreyLikesBaby.

Decorating Style

Pops of color with a neutral palette.  We started with the furniture which we wanted to have "Made in America" and a couple of key pieces that we could build on.  We like vintage, but wanted the furniture to be useful until Maddie is off to college.

Favorite Items

Favorite items are the custom made toy box by Neil Vincent and the custom subway print that was made by JennaSueDesigns.  It lists all the places that are important.  It was the perfect personalized touch.  We love how the vintage quilt that was made many years ago fits perfectly with the design.

Advice

There are so many resources available, but definitely try to create something unique.  We may have gone overboard in some aspects, but are happy that we were able to provide our little girl with a nursery that was personalized and truly unique.
