I wanted to use bold black and white with romantic pastel colors for Maclaren's room inspiration. Part Modern and part vintage. We mixed new trends with old things we found at thrift shops.
I love the Scandinavian style with their bold black and white and pastel details. I started with that inspiration but fell in love with Pink and gold as well. So it ended up more eclectic than scandinavian.
I love a lot of different styles, so narrowing it down to one would be a challenge. I love modern mixed with vintage, and a pinch of whimsical. I think it changes depending on trends and new inspirations. I love having things coordinate without being matchy-matchy.
I have a gold gallery wall that I found most things at thrift shops, but you could also take a can of spray paint to make it more cohesive. The Deer motif is from the Project Nursery Shop and I have two in my home-love them! The crib is Jenny Lind, the Rocker is Nursery Works' Empire Rocker-- stylish and comfortable, both purchased from Target online. It is so versatile. The rug was a statement piece from Pure Home. Swan Soiree Crib Sheet and TeePee- Land of Nod. DIY mobile with sticks, yarn pompoms and bunnies I had custom ordered from Hartstringz on Etsy. Yellow & Natural striped Curtains from Crate and Barrel.
Either my rocking chair, my dresser, or that rug. The are versatile and worth the money spent. They can be used for the next baby or grow with baby, or be used in another room.
Put everything in Polyvore and see if it will work together before you purchase. Buy the big items first, then the details. Pull in colors in at least 2 places to make a more cohesive look if not using a "theme." I'd also NOT do this color wall again (Curry). I would do it the same as the other 3 or go with a soft black. Also, I post occasional home tips on my photography website as well www.bposhphoto.com.
