Description
A baby girl's nursery featuring the color pink in a fun way, lots of second-hand furniture, DIY decor, and heirloom pieces. More details can be found on my blog: http://dualey.wordpress.com/2012/06/21/lydias-nursery/
Design Inspiration
I started with a crib bumper from The Land of Nod. I picked a range of 7 paint shades with plans to use the lightest shade on the walls and the darkest shade on the crib. I saw a peony lamp shade from Pottery Barn Kids that I decided to knock it off using peonies that matched my paint swatches. Once those elements were in place, the room fell together over time.
Decorating Style
Traditional with a bit of vintage pieces mixed in, especially vintage heirlooms from my family.

Favorite Items
My favorite item is either the crib and bumper because I really love the pop of colors or the ABC cross-stitch my mother made for my nursery 27 years ago. I love that I was able to mix some heirloom pieces from my nursery into my daughter's room
Advice
Take a concept and build on it over time to acheive a layered look. Gather elements from different stores, garage sales, Craigslist, and your own home so the nursery is coheasive, but doesn't look like everything was purchased from one place. Make it as personal as possible.
