Description
This is our baby girl's nursery and it is my favorite room in our entire house.
Design Inspiration
I knew I wanted neutral with a pop of color. I chose coral as that pop. I then searched for baby bedding and found the deer silhouette bedding on Etsy and went from there. I wanted a stripe accent wall with various decoration and it all came together better than I imagined. The room had this big window and I thought having her monogram hang in front of it with the sun shining in would be so pretty... and it is!
Decorating Style
I think I'm pretty eclectic. I like different things and I like bringing random things into a room together. I love antique, vintage, and used furniture so nothing in the nursery is new!
Project Details
We put all used and antique furniture in her nursery. The crib was actually mine and my siblings. The changing table we got from my husband's parents and painted it coral and added new gold knobs. The rocker is my husbands old Lay Z Boy (we compromised). The toy chest was actually a toy chest I found in my grandmothers house. We bought the antique wardrobe off Craigslist. The heart bench was at my husband's parent's house. And the bookshelf was an old shelf my mother bought at an auction for $20 and we painted white. The most expensive thing was the crib bedding which I had made from someone on Etsy. We bought the sheer curtain from Target and the blackout PomPom shades from Urban Outfitters. We had her wooden monogram made from someone on Etsy and I painted it a metallic gold. The accent wall was already a tan color and we painted the thick white stripes. I bought most of the decor on the wall from Hobby Lobby. The "C" was a wooden letter I painted white and glued fake pearls to. The changing pad cover was made from someone on Etsy. The chandelier was the chandelier my husband and I got married under. We couldn't use it in the ceiling as the main light because it hung too low so I decided to make it a lamp. We bought a lamp kit from Lowe's and hung it above the little side table. The side table came from a flea market and we painted it white and added a cute new knob to it. :)
Favorite Items
My favorite item(s) are the chandelier because of the meaning behind it and the crib bedding. BUT my favorite part of the room is the accent wall. I'm pretty proud of myself. :)
Advice
Just paint a clear picture in your mind of what you want the room to look like and stick to it! I knew what I wanted in there and what I wanted to do and I made it happen!
