Description
We did this room for around $1,100. Details on my blog: http://heidimitchellphotography.com/blog/?p=1062
Design Inspiration
First, I saw a room on Project Nursery a long time ago that had an ABC wall. I loved it and knew I wanted to do something along those lines in our nursery if the baby was a boy, which he is!
Secondly, I fell in love with the owls from DwellStudio, so I built the color scheme around that print.
Decorating Style
A balance between vintage & modern.
Project Details
We bought an old 1920's dresser at a flea market for $75. With some sanding, painting & beautiful new hardware from Anthropologie, we love how it turned out!
Wall Paint: Winter's Day low VOC by Olympic
Dresser Paint: Swiss Chocolate by Valspar
Dresser Knobs: Anthropologie
Rug: Pier One
Bedding: Design Public
Crib: Babies R Us
Favorite Items
The ABC wall & his Scripture art that I made him. Psalm 23 is one of my favorite passages from the Bible, and I love having something special that I made just for him in the room.
Advice
Choose a modern print you love, and then build the rest of the room around it.
Hi Heidi:
Looking at all these, it looks like you spent at least 5x as much than the $1,100 you did! Did you make the alphabet stuff you have on one wall? If so, I’m soooooooooo not worthy!
Hi,
Thanks so much for the compliment! I bought the letters on the ABC wall from all over. Many of them were unfinished wood, so I painted them, but didn’t “make” them. I did paint the “L” canvas because I couldn’t find an “L” that I liked. I also painted the “&” onto a piece of wood. Other than that, they were purchased from Michael’s, JoAnn’s, Khol’s, Anthropologie, Pottery Barn Teen, and Etsy.
Hi Heidi
I agree with CreativeCrumbs, I love the way you made use of very light colors, it added to the classy look of the room that really wonderfully contrasted with the playfulness of the other elements! The beauty of this room is in the little details :)
This nursery is amazing! It’s not pastel baby-ish; it’s not wild and crazy over the top either. It’s a perfect balance of style and fun. You did a great job! The alphabet wall is fabulous!
Hi Heidi:
Thanks for answering that. I think it’s still difficult getting them painted and having each look different and still come together quite beautifully!
I just love those colorful owls. And I love the framed ultrasound pic :) I think that’s an original touch :)

Love, love, love it! I really love the fresh take on scripture & the typography.
