Description
A serene, fresh, and feminine nursery for our baby girl!
Design Inspiration
I had originally wanted to do bold hot pink colors, but once we chose the name Lila I realized we had to do purple! The name has several meanings in different languages, including "purple" or "lilac". From there, I decided I wanted to do something crisp, fresh, and feminine, so I stuck to lilac, white, and silver-gray, with a flower, bird and butterfly theme.
Decorating Style
I tend to like eclectic/exotic with lots of color. But I ended up with a different style for the nursery! I think it has more of a soft, feminine and organic feel.
Project Details
I don't really have a lot of DIY skills, but I put my husband and myself to the test by doing lots of DIY projects! We refinished the dressers--they were mine growing up. That took a lot of work. I somehow managed to create the LILA wall hanging myself, as well as the silver pillow with the lilac flower. I also redid the trim on the lamp--it used to be gold.
Favorite Items
It's hard to choose. I like that we were able to use my childhood dressers. I also love the tree decal.
Advice
Let yourself be inspired by something and then go with it!
Do you have links for the bedding and wall decals? and what paint color did you choose. Have been looking for something exactly like this!
Looks great! I was wondering if you could tell me what paint color you used for the walls and dressers. Thanks
Where did you get the crib bedding? I absolutely love it and am lookingn for something simular.
What a beautiful nursery! Could you help me find the wall decal by chance?

Love this nursery! My firstborn is Lila Rose! Now for the second girl, we are thinking lavender tones such as these…I just thought it was awesome that I loved this one and you created it for your Lila! :)
i love the pretty purple room. what a nice room
what color is the paint? I have had the hardest time finding the right shade of purple
Thanks Carla_Sol and Dandelion! I got the tree decal from etsy.com. I think the vendor was called styleywalls. She sent me color samples so I was able to make sure they’d work in the room. I also got one of the throw pillows from etsy (the one with the lilac flower I made myself). The chandelier is from pottery barn kids and the bedding is from Target.
Webgirl10, there are a lot of things here that I love. I think it’s great that you were able to pass something of your own into your child’s nursery, that’s special. I love that chandelier and those throw pillows, and that lamp, and that bedding. Oh my, if I could go there and hijack this whole room, that would be perfect! Where did you buy all these???
I love the colors! Where did you find the cherry blossom tree decal? I’ve been looking for one like it for a while now.
Thanks for the instructions and the close up picture. I’m not very crafty, but I think I’ll be able to handle this.
Thanks! I actually just uploaded a new closer, detail image of the letters–I think they’re hard to see in the other pic. For the gray squares, I found these small canvas frames at a local art/craft supply store. They were only about $4 each. I attached fabric to each one by folding the excess in the back and stapling it. For the purple squares, I found similar smaller, flat canvasses at the same store that were the size I wanted. But you could probably also just use any kind of square cardboard. I painted them with purple paint, and attached them to the gray squares w/double sided tape. Then I just attached vinyl letters, which you can get at most craft stores or online. I hand sewed the purple flower appliques onto the gray fabric, which was a pain. I’ve since learned the magic of the hot glue gun! That would have been so much easier and faster– I definitely recommend a glue gun for appliques! The white flowers were just decoration from my shower that I placed on top. Good luck with your project–I hope that’s helpful!
Can you tell me how you did the name wall hanging? I absolutely love it and have a similar theme for my daughter’s nursery.
Thanks! Wow! Another Lila in March!!!
I love it! I am due March 30th with my second little girl and I am naming her Lilah :) I am also doing a lilac nursery as well! I love everything that you did!!!
Thanks! I actually was a little worried about the bedding and tree being a little too match-y, so I’m glad you liked it!
I love the purple cherry blossom tree decal you have, it matches your bedding and it’s very unique, considering that most cherry blossom scenes are rendered in pink. I know that you wanted hot pink, but I think this room came out very lovely as it is.
