King of all Wild Things

Description

I designed this room for a special little guy that was born this summer.  His parents wanted a soothing room, but with pops of color.  That is a style I just love to design.  The soft grey and white color palette allowed for the art and books to really pop.

Design Inspiration

The inspiration came from the custom bedding my clients chose.  They went with a multi colored chevron crib skirt and a crib rail bumper made of a grey and white elephant print.  I didn't want the room to be too busy by using too many other patterns.  Instead I wanted to pull the colors used in the crib skirt and really make them pop in this special space.

Decorating Style

As a nursery and kids space designer, I like to make rooms light and airy with pops of color and fun.  I am really careful about going too pattern heavy as I like each item to be featured as opposed to lost.

Favorite Items

I love how the gallery wall turned out.  I just love how the jewel tones pop off the light grey walls.

Advice

By keeping the furniture, the walls and the larger items more subtle, it allowed for the accessories and art to be featured.  It is balancing pattern and color, so that those items that are most special, stand out.

Simple and fresh. I love those framed prints, by the way.
