Katherine’s Nursery

Description

I wanted to have a neutral nursery for my 4th baby girl. I thought I would try and bring in some color as an accent at some point, but any time I tried to add a pop of color, I never liked how it looked. So, I kept it completely neutral and I love the way it turned out.

Design Inspiration

I got my inspiration from the blogs Dear Lillie and The Painted Hive. They both did a beautiful neutral nursery for their babies.

Project Details

The crib is Brat Decor which can be fairly pricey so I was thrilled when I found this one on Craigslist! The mobile and lamp are from Pottery Barn. The curtains, light fixture and frames were from Ikea. I bought the glider (which was my biggest splurge) from Babies and Kids 1st Furniture. The side table and mirror are from Home Goods. The bedding is from Serena and Lily (it was 1/2 off).

Favorite Items

My favorite item in the room is the board and batten on the wall. We hired a guy to install is for us, but there are many DIY projects on several blogs if you want to try it on your own.

Advice

My biggest piece of advice to achieve your dream nursery is to start looking for items and inspiration as soon as you find out you're pregnant. It took me lots of hours of looking at blogs, pinterest and craigslist to find my ideas and to get good deals on the items I wanted.

I love the color on the walls! What is the name of the color??

I love the crib. In fact, I picked up the same crib in Round Top, but it was painted a silver and gold. Did you put the finish on this crib or was it purchased this way? I like both the dark paint finish and the metallic, but I am having a hard time finding the paint to paint the crib. Can you tell me the two color finishes and the paint name? Any help is appreciated.

    Shawna,

I got the mobile sometime in January. I don’t remember seeing it online when I was looking for one. I found it in the store in Houston. Try looking in a store if you are near one. You could also try Etsy for one if you don’t have luck at PB. Good luck.

    Hello,
I looked on pottery barn for the butterfly mobile and couldn’t find it. How long ago did you buy it? I’m hoping they still have them in stock. I love it…
    Thanks

What a beautiful nursery! Neutrals can sometimes look so boring, but this room is clean, whimsical with a touch of modern. Love it!
