Ivey’s Abode

Description

I was very excited to decorate my little girl's room from the moment I found out her sex! I didn't want to go the traditional route and didn't want to go with any certain theme. I am very pleased with how it turned out, and now it is my favorite room in the house!

Design Inspiration

I saw a picture of a bedroom in a Southern Living magazine that used yellow damask bedding and paired it with pale blue accents and I fell in love! I loved the nontraditional approach to a girl's room while also adding feminine touches.

Decorating Style

I love vintage, eclectic styles with a bit of a traditional approach.

Project Details

Crib bumper and pillows on glider: I made them with fabric from fabric.com

Crib skirt: Pottery Barn

Chest of drawers: Found on Craigslist for $30! My grandfather refinished it for me and now it is a beautiful antique!

Mirror: Found at an antique store on clearance for $50. Spray painted it white (originally gold) and sanded the edges for an aged look.

Crib, Glider and Ottoman: Purchased at Baby Time in Memphis.

Curtain: My mother-in-law had it made for me in the matching fabric.

Picture/Bow hanger: I found an old window frame at an antique store and attached ribbons off of the diaper cake from her shower.

Oil Painting: Done by my sister as a gift.

Chandelier: Land of Nod, but was given to me by a friend.

Monogram over the bed: Vinyl lettering (etsy)

Lamp: T.J. Maxx

Painted wooden picture frame: Organic Bloom

Favorite Items

I love the chest of drawers because it was such a great find and since her great grandfather refinished it for her it makes it even more special. I love the mirror and the oil painting. I also still love the yellow and white damask print!

Advice

If you have a sewing machine and want to achieve a more unique look with your bedding, make it yourself! There are so many online resources with step by step instructions. It is very doable, even for a beginner. Shop thrift stores, antique stores, craigslist and other second hand resources for unique items you can make your own for a fraction of the cost. Create a room that is relaxing for you to be in since you will be the main one enjoying it during all of the late night feedings!

    Alicia,

Sorry I am just seeing your question Alicia! I had the curtains made but found the fabric on fabric.com. The wall color is an ice blue color. Thank you for your kind comment!

I LOVE the room! Its so calm but bright at the same time. Is that wall color a light blue? I love the curtains (where’d you get them?), the mirror about the changing table, the lamp, and the mis-matched furniture. This room has a lot of character, while some how still feeling fresh and clean. Good job!!!
