Isabelle’s nursery

Description

I wanted a simple cozy room for my daughter free from pinks and purples.

Design Inspiration

My inspiration was the vintage military poster you see hanging above the changing table. I had that same poster hanging in my barracks room when i was in the service. It inspired all the colors in the room.

Decorating Style

Vintage. I love old things, I feel like it gives a room character.

Project Details

The paint that we used is Valspar from www.lowes.com and I begged my husband to do stripes which he did. I wanted something nuetral that we could use any colors with. The furniture was passed down from my son except the blue and white dresser/changing table. We bought that on Craigslist for $30 and my husband sanded and painted it. He even chose the colors which i loved. The green bookshelves and light fixture that we havent hung are from www.ikea.com. I get the most compliments about the pom pom balls which is from the martha stewart site and so easy to make, and the curtains. I got the fabric at www.joanns.com on sale and made them myself with some no sew hem tape.

Favorite Items

My favorite items would be a little old white ceramic lamp on top of the bookshelf that i bought at a Thrift Store and plan on using as a nightlight. I also love the dresser my husband re-did for me and of course the vintage military poster that started it all.

Advice

If you love one picture/poster/or art work, let that be your inspiration even if you had a completely different idea of what you wanted before. I wanted to do an old hollywood type theme but just kept coming back to that poster. I am so glad i went with that because i love all the colors that were brought into the room from the inspiration of that poster.

You know what, I have somewhat the same poster that I've hidden up in the attic.  I just didn't think it fit with any design we currently have in the house.  But I can see how you've used it and spiced up this room :)  I love the pompoms too, it makes the room extra girlie :)

CLASSIC! I love the way this room makes you feel like you're stepping into the past.  Great design, minimal yet it doesn't make you feel empty.  Am sure Isabelle loves her room!
