Henry’s Vintage Airplane Nursery

Description

A sophisticated, yet still boyish nursery for our son. It is centered around aviation, deep rich colors and personal hand made touches from loved ones.

Design Inspiration

Our inspiration is my father. He was a fighter pilot in the Navy, so we used his experiences for Henry's nursery. We were able to find so many aviation inspired decorations, it was easier than I expected!

Decorating Style

The style for this nursery is fun, yet something he can grow into. I didn't want to create a nursery that was centered around infancy because I want him to be able to keep many of the pieces as he gets older.

Favorite Items

My favorite items are the hand made pieces by family and friends. My mother in law made the "Pittsinger Propeller and Parts" sign and I was blown away by her creativity and how perfectly it fits in the nursery. My friend also made the name sign on his door. I also love the Braniff Airline tin sign because my parents met while my Dad was a pilot and Mom was a flight attendant for Braniff. The last "favorite" is the wooden propeller. This was hanging up in the house I grew up in, and now it is hanging in my son's room. I'm in love.

Advice

Pick something that has meaning. Whether it is a theme, or just a central piece to draw inspiration, make sure you love it. Don't worry about what may look nice to others, just make it your own. The nursery is a space for you to enjoy with your tiny one, so as long as you feel at home and comfortable in it, that's all that matters!

Six years late to the party, but this nursery is breathtaking. I was searching for teal colored nurseries and when I saw this I said WOW this is the look I’m going for. I love that you decorated with meaningful pieces. I wonder how the room looks now..

Hey there! Love this nursery! I’m looking at finding something similar to the 3 piece picture under the propeller by the mirror. I can’t even find anything similar to it, where did you get it or how should I search for something like that?
    Thanks!
