Hailey’s Eclectic Nursery

Description

The inspiration for Hailey's room was the Marimekko tapestry that hangs over her crib. From there, we wanted to create a modern and eclectic nursery with elements that she could grow into. Several elements are pieces that have been passed down in our families, which we then balanced with newer elements. The color palette is light gray, white, and pops of bright oranges, purples, and pinks.

Design Inspiration

I knew that I wanted a neutral wall with a bright color. When my cousin gave us the Marimekko tapestry, I used it as a basis for the rest of the design.

Decorating Style

Eclectic, modern, old and new pieces, neutrals balanced with bold pops of color.

Favorite Items

My favorite part of Hailey's room are the addition of my husband and I's favorite childhood stuffed animals that now sit on her bookcase.

The hippo planter came out of my grandparents house in NY. As I child I always remember it in their garden, and I love the touch of whimsy that it adds to H's room.

The Kate Spade saying was something I stumbled on while cleaning out a drawer. When I found it, I thought it was too perfect not to add to her room.

Advice

Let your idea develop naturally. I knew the look that I was going for when designing her room, but I didn't settle for elements to add. I took my time and looked at a variety of sources for the elements that made my vision come to life.

I love the mix of pieces but especially the pieces from your past. Hippo for the world!

Love the blend of vintage and modern pieces. The inspiration piece may be a part of her own home decor someday. The soft grey and white make a perfect background for the bold colors to pop. A very comfortable looking room for your baby.
