Graphic and Modern Toddler Boy Room

Description

My clients are a busy professional couple with a delightful toddler boy. He had been nestled in the landing below their third-floor bedroom, the space was cozy with just enough room for a crib and a chest of drawers. When Henry turned two they knew it was time for him to have a proper room or his own. The brief was for the room to be as much playroom as bedroom. We tried to utilzie the closet as much as possible for storage to allow more space in the room for toys and play. In terms of the aesthetics the mom had some great black and white photos she wanted to use but was otherwise very open to the color scheme.

Design Inspiration

The inspiration for the room really started with the animal chairs that I found at Home Goods. That set the tone for a black/grey and white color scheme. Ive always loved yellow, it is such a fun color and works so well with black and white so that was introduced to keep the room fresh and youthful. The stripes on the ceiling came about as there is no light fixture on the ceiling so I wanted to do something fun and Im a sucker for stripes.

Decorating Style

Clean and crisp, I adore mixing patterns and gravitate towards black and white and splashes of bold color.

Favorite Items

I adore the animal chairs they are so fun and unique. The tepee is pretty fabulous too and a big hit with Henry, he loves to sit in there and look at books.

Advice

The most striking changes in this room have been achieved by paint which is possibly the easiest and cheapest tool you have to transform a room. So don't be afraid to paint a room or try stripes, if you hate it its relatively easy and inexpensive to change.
